So I have your attention... Good.... I will now be 100% honest, I have no scientific PROOF behind this theory even though I wish I did, but I would like to hear your opinions on this matter. I have noticed in the past week that many review pages from my web hosting review site ALL are placing around the same position on the second page of Google SERP for their respected keywords. One of my pages has tuns of quality back links and rank about 12 of 300,000... Another page with about the same amount of content BUT a lot less links also ranks 12 of 310,000... This pattern exists for many pages on my site. MY THEORY is that google has significantly changed is SERP formula to focus primary on CONTENT rather than back links... I like the though of this and for my website it seems to be true, has anyone else noticed this trend?
rubbish you can be in the top 10 from title, keywords and description alone. I know because I am for a number of different sites.
Ok. Who said rankings completely depends upon backlinks ? Nobody. Its always been like that. Pages with good info(aa. to google) will be placed better even without less backlinks.
I agree with you on this but I am left wonding why the page with lots of backlinks has the same placement as the site with little to none.
I thought you were going to tell me the formula to high ranks included: 2 Eggs 1/2 Cup Milk 1 Teaspoon Flour 3 Dashes of Pepper Darn, I was going to the grocery store today! Seriously, I think you may be onto something. I have recently noticed less SEO bang from backlinks with appropriate anchor text. But this could just be temporary...
Thanks SNOWBIRD, I agree this might be temporary but I am glad to see that someone else has noticed this as well.
I think it would be like 5 cups of backlinks 3 teaspoon of contents 4 Dashes of Keywords Little adsense for garnishing emmm. something like that.
Content has always been King, I think now more so then ever. All of the pr sculpting we're doing is affecting Google's Algorithm tied with inlinks. The nofollow is changing things
There is more than 100 factors that determine rank. Google will adjust the weighting depending on how much spam they get, the relevancy of the page and what makes them money in adwords. This changes on a regular basis.
Google relies on a combo of domain age (HIGHLY important), keyword density in your content, and backlinks from sites in your niche with relevant anchors. Just keep adding fresh content and getting relevant backlinks to any site you are trying to rank and eventually you'll be golden. There are probably HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of factors google uses to determine your position in the SERPs.
Content is the king.. if you have good quality content, and if it is indexed and cached first in google, it'll rank well in google irrespective of backlinks...
This says it all. It is like it has been. A mix of many factors. And Google keeps changing and shifting the priorities all the time.
