okay im trying to make a survey to help all those newbies out there in getting their foot wet in the market and actually cutting out some niches completely so they dont waste their time... i know for a fact that the 'money making' niche is way over crowded with different products and so for an affiliate is hard to promote but as a publisher is bigger money. anyone else got any thoughts?
The good niche's: niche where there isn't much competition. The bad niche's: niche where there is too much competition. It's that simple.
i think a good rule of thumb is a gravity between 50 and 100 or thereabouts ... a product that has proven sales but one that's not too competitive ... and something you are interested in promoting
ye but then there are generally categories that are bad to start with arnt there? (well more so than good ones)
I don't believe there are good or bad niches. Its all about your ability to get your sales page in front of a potential buyer first. Making money and internet marketing niches may appear to be saturated, but in reality there are millions of people interested in those topics and more signing on every day. Think about it, a guy who hates his job is sitting in his cubicle at work, he supposed to be working but instead he is surfing the internet. He comes across your ad or your website and it is telling him how he can make money at home by way of the internet. All he needs to do is buy your product and see how it worked for you, you'll tell him step by step how its done. Do you think that guy is going to buy? You bet! There are countless people out there who feel the same way about their jobs or don't even have a job. Some people would say that niche is saturated, I just don't see how it could be.
Highly saturated is perfect! As long as there are new products appearing in this niche. Take weight loss - a new brand comes out - say proactol, over time new long tail kw's start breaking out and you jump on them whilst the products still growing. That said these products have had to have been heavily marketed in order for people to then go online and start searching for this product in order to deliver these kw's. So maybe not cb related ;-)
yeah i suppose there is allways room for more people.... but i ment for a newbie starting out to keep the motivation and the total need of knowledge and more expert techniques and processes to getting those sales to a minimum i think its better to go into smaller niches... but that have lots of people buying still
Starting out on small niches builds a solid base and you can always move more mainstream when you start to get better at it.
Hi, Ithink you can make money in any niche if you work hard/get a bit lucky! I started out with Guitar Lessons cos I play guitar and know a bit about it. Bombed totally. I then tried Wedding Speeches - created a nice (I think!) site Best Man Speeches. I get a trickle of sales. I then tried Reverse Phone Search, which does OK, and the infamous "water for gas" niche - which has provided probably 80% of my IM sales - and it's a pretty saturated (pun INTENDED) niche. I also tried the "earth 4 energy" niche, and it's been a flop. Hundreds of hops - 1 sale So just try a few and see what happens. Cheers Zander
ye im going into the learn french niche there was loads of adverts to it but its kinda a seasonal niche (i.e. because more people move or go on holiday in the summer) but still school is about july will see more sales if i target teens doing exams and so it could all be good
It's okay if a newbie want to start their clickbank journey promoting highly competitive product but there are few things you must consider. How motivated are you? And can you STAY motivated? You can make a lot of sale from high gravity product but you have to invest a lot of time and money to see whats working and what not. If you want to start promoting products using PPC you must be prepare to lose a lot of money before you learn and make a profit. If you want to promote it using article marketing you must be prepare to spent your time writing articles and submitting it to articles directories.
No such thing as too much competition. Why do you think so many people are in that niche? Because that is where the money is. You capture even a small percentage of the sales in some of the larger niches and you're doing good. Maybe its a little easier to break in to smaller niche but you aren't going to make the money you otherwise would. Don't be scared
the niche that hard to describe or review about is BAD for newbie. the niche that visitors familiar, dont need much review&comparison is GOOD for newbie.
The suggestion to go for gravity of 50-100 isn't correct. You can make a bundle on lower gravity products, even those who've been that way for a long time. Some vendors simply don't know how to attract affiliates. I'd stay away from anything with a gravity of 50+ until you no more about what you're doing.
Agreed - it's much easier to make good sales in a very high competition niche because that's where the buyers (and the money) are. You've got to be good though (in terms of reviews, preselling etc.).
It depends mainly on your dedication. To me there is no good or bad niche to start with. Start with something you'd like to promote, and try to enjoy and stick to this. Create good sites, do not try to cheat with search engines and get some inbound links; then rince and repeat.
