    ABOUT THE Intel Dual Core E2140 PROCESSOR

    The E2140 CPU is built on the same architecture that powers today's most powerful servers. This is Intel's mainline consumer chip which is able to handle a surprising workload and is more powerful than required by the majority of today's clients.

    Years ago, processor performance was measured in Megahertz. With similar performance per MHz between all the major competitors, it was a simple comparison to decide which CPU was the fastest. Today things are slightly more complicated. These days, when deciding on a processor, you need to account for how many cores (multiple processors built into a single chip) it has, which instruction set it has, whether it supports the built in virtualization codecs and finally, it's MHz.

    Q: How fast is this processor?
    A: For the vast majority of the population, the answer is simple: FAST ENOUGH! This much processing power was simply not available just a few years ago. The truth is that most clients need dedicated servers for other reasons than raw processing power and this processor is more than able to keep up with any workload.

    E2140 Detailed Specifications:

    * sSpec Number: SLA93
    * CPU Speed: 1.60 GHz
    * Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    * Bus/Core Ratio: 8
    * L2 Cache Size: 1 MB
    * L2 Cache Speed: 1.6 GHz
    * Package Type: LGA775
    * Manufacturing Technology: 65 nm
    * Core Stepping: M0
    * CPUID String: 06FDh
    * Thermal Design Power: 65W

    Comparable Processors:

    The following processors perform within 5% of each other in computational benchmarks.

    * Intel Dual Core E2140: 1.6 GHz Two-Core
    * Intel Pentium D 960: 3.6 GHz Two-Core
    * AMD Athlon 64X2 4000+ Two-Core
    * Intel Core 2 Duo E4300: 1.8 GHz Two-Core
