Nice to see you back Grim. Dont agree with you on this one, but ya know I still love ya. WB. On the MSNBC thing... I'll miss Matthews up there. He was going ballistic the other night, really seemed to be losing it, but he's always been one of those guys its hard not to like. Theyre putting David Gregory in his spot... who may do a better job at maintaining, but wont be near as fun to watch. The loss of Olberman will hurt the ratings, he's the go-to guy for the younger viewers from what I hear, but he was getting so mad since the Palin thing broke he wasnt even making an attempt at objectivity... he wanted blood. If theyd just SAY they were on the campaign trail for Obama it'd make it less of an issue... kinda like nobody questions which side Sean Hannity is on. Problem is they wanted to maintain the idea they were just reporting, which had ceased to be believable.
That's what bothers me about MSNBC. They're certainly not more biased than Fox, but their bias is much more disguised which makes it insidious. David Gregory is still fresh from the field as a White House correspondent(is he still doing that?) so he still seems like a real reporter to me. I hope it lasts as I hate to see him turn into another Matthews.
What part do you not agree with? The Palin part is a fact, she was for the bridge, she campaigned on it, then when it was found out congress including McCain 'her running mate' were yanking it she suddenly turned against the bridge, still got and kept the money, but is now running a campaign built on total lies and deception that she 'fought against the bridge to nowhere' which she most certainly did not.
Please provide proof that he has said he will be the first black president. Again, given that he has explicitly and quite publically named his bi-racial heritage, once again: Given that at a recent speech, he quite publicaly honored his white great-uncle for his service to his country, given so much, actually, please provide proof of anything you repeat, without a shred of cogency, in any instance. Unless it's a party thing? Secretary of State Rice, for instance - she's also a "race-baiter" in your world?
Personally, I don't care that he references himself as black or his grandfather as white. I do have an issue with it that if there is a black guy standing in a crowd among white people it would be considered politically incorrect by some if I were to point out the black guy using the term, "the black guy". It doesn't seem that it should be an issue at all. Another thing I make note of though is that his grandfather being white had absolutely no relation to his speech. So I can see the argument being used there, but I won't hold it against him.
Largely agree, though this wasn't the issue falsely raised by Homebiz, prompting my reply. I honestly don't know if my using the word "black" is considered un-PC. I know I use "white" to describe myself, along with "American Indian" to describe that part of my heritage, and can't stand mouth-mangling in order to talk to one another...i.e., my French-Danish-English-American Indian-American doesn't like to talk to my Austrian-Estonian-Finnish-(adopted country) American grandfather- in-law about our family Estonian-Swedish-(adopted country) American family friend, married to his thai-chinese-American wife, what they are up to these days. I'd rather talk to "Edgar" about "Pruit and Sue." That said, I do understand where the sensitivity is coming from. The history of the word "coloured" alone in American life means labels do have weight. I can only speak for myself, that when I use the word, "black," it is a simple descriptor of the ethnicity of another, like hispanic, asian, and so forth. I'd actually appreciate Hmansfield's perspective on this, as it's easy enough for me to talk about the issue, being white (for the most part). Well, I can't see the "race card" image being used at all, since politicians use family members all the time (one cannot condemn Obama for this, and give a pass for McCain or Palin, given the RNC convention). I'm sure it was used - well, not sure, but my cynic suspects it was used - as political capital, but not along terms of race, really - though the guy is his great uncle, and he is white. I think he was lauded more as Obama's aged, venerable uncle, an honorable WWII vet, and this helps Obama with the "he likes vets" image. Beyond this, none of us have any indication whatsoever that the guy t simply doesn't love and honor his great uncle, and his contributions.
it is not in vain deal with it. why did she do these things? is this what her judgment is about? another disregard for her children. is there a pattern
I wonder how pizzaboy and others feel about the women who don't go to a hospital for a birth? Is that wrong to do? (or not to do?)
Hospitals are rather recent. Way back, people used to call midwives home at the necessary time. Sometimes, elder women in the family tended to the birth.
checkout the image. I do not know of any woman that tries to have a natural birth with a premature baby that is diagnosed as having DS. Do you really have any values that you won't compromise and a lot of them died. they did not go on a long trip either.
Pizzaman you would probably try to throw me in prison for my wife having the last 3 kids at home. Do you know what a VBAC is? There is another reason for you too call the police on us. Oh, we homeschool too, and we let our kids read the Bible. Can't imagine what you would do if I told you that our kids have not all been immunized???!?!? The horror of people not doing things the way you want them to because you know ALL things - the great and mighty pizzaboy.
Most people have a mindset that a birth is some sort of emergency procedure that can only be handled by a professional OBGYN physician. All other methods are deemed ludicrous.
I treat some of my minor illnesses and wounds myself. I can't understand the people who run to the doctors for every little health problem. Self sufficiency is under-rated.
what is VBAC. . if you and your wife choose to disregard the advice of the doctor and do what she did i would ask you why also? if you commit a crime toward your children you should go to jail for sure. her child birth was not normal and i do not know of any midwife that would do this. also she did not call a midwife or her family. he gave a speech after her water broke. did your wife do that also. please lets us sweep it under the rug amen
The hospitals in many (if not all) states will not perform a Vbac. (Vaginal birth after c-section) Which my wife has had 5 of.... oh the horror!!! Yes, against most doctor's wishes. Others are trying to force all to conform to your way of thinking, some of us don't just follow the herd though. I have gone against doctors wishes and we hardly ever show up at a doctor's office - hopefully we can stay that way. A hospital should be there for emergencies, and if people actually took care of their health to begin with, we would see a huge decline in the need, but that is for a whole other thread. Basically, the choices I make for my family go against the grain of people like you pizza. I could care less if you want me thrown in jail, I will fight for my family and their health. Back to palin and their choices, I see the chart posted by pizzaboy as a perfect example of liberal "logic", the sad thing is how much he will argue about this logic.
They do not do this procedure because it is crazy sick. I feel bad for your wife and i recommend her to kick your ass out and start collecting alimony. back to the subject. she did go to the hospital at the end so may be you can not tell me why she did all that before going to the hospital. i was talking with someone recently about some people that want to live in the middle ages. i see more and more every day lets all be crazy amen
Loving and caring for one's family is more important than taking them to the doctor everyday. Anyways on the flowchart, all i find interesting about it is that the word "gladiator" is mis-spelled at the end.
