I have been working on www.AlohaAliens.com For myself. It is my first from scratch website. I have never made a PSD layout, I have never sliced, I have never had to code a Sliced Psd, And I only know minor php and minor html. I have been going at it non stop for about 3 days. I got 2 reviews and one said I am doing great and its looking great. And the other said for a novice I am doing really good but he says I made a 1998 feeling layout. Im not sure if that is a good thing or not. Some people like old school stuff. Any ways check me out at www.AlohaAliens.com And test it all out and feel free to let me know what you think.
It looks okay but I noticed you used frames which isn't really good to use in my opinion. The header image is hard to read the name of the site.
I mainly used div tags but i got a Iframe in the middle. What would you have suggested? Php instead of Html? Thats the next book im reading.
Well if you plan to add a lot of content you should use php to some how simplify your task...And I think you should replace your iframe with div tag and set the overflow style...
I will be getting rid of the iframe tonight and replacing with the div tag. And when I get a little bit in every section I will 100% start to learn php and and try to convert.
Hi -- I love this type of stuff. Your 'look' reminds me of the old-style personal websites around this theme. Black and purple etc. I would suggest something much simpler, whiter and cripser.
This is my first design so soon after I get it loaded with all the content I will be recoding to php with a whole new PSD. I went with purple and black because I live in baltimore and I am a die hard ravens fan(colors are purple & black) I will take the thought into consideration. But I was thinking maybe silver. Why do people keep saying this. Is it because it looks like a geocities design or 50megs. I know they had alot of simple layouts with theme packs. I do appreciate you saying its great though it makes me feel good and have a desire to continue learning how to make it better. But then again ya never know every few years we seem to go into a vintage craze so it may be a really good thing.
Have you tried using those Joomla or Wordpress powered CMS? They can better fit the bill and you need not worry about building the site from scratch. Personally, I do not like purple as it makes the site rather dark.
for your first website? Its really great but theres something wrong with the header sometimes hard to read.
Check it now and let me know if it still looks old. Please & Thank you Yea I wont use wordpress or joomla because I am trying to do this site 100% on my own Ok well if you check again now it is my second site and I got a new header.
Please Review again. I changed the entire PSD to try to give it a more new look. I do not want to be old.
hi, your site, needs more info, the content needs to be properly organized, place your captions make it sure it really make sense in a way it can catch attention of your visitor! hoping that my suggestions can help you!
Could you be a little more specific on the organization? Have you seen the new revised layout? I know I am lacking content but this is because there is no automatic way to gather all the ufo content out there, I am working on it day by day. Im trying to add to the sections evenly so there will be something in every category. What do you mean by captions? And all suggestions do help. Thank you and thank everyone else
Im lost on this. Will an old looking site not get traffic? What is some examples of why it looks old? What am I doing wrong? When I Make beats for my rapper friends they always say I make old school beats that they love. Am I just stuck in the wrong era mentally?
