On the "sambo" commenting. Until this morning, I wasn't even aware of the rumor alleging Palin used this when referring to Obama.

Anymore than this morning's ridiculousness stating Obama has "finally outed himself as a muslim," this rumor has no place in an honorable debate on the substance of the campaign, in my opinion, and Hmansfield, I'd suggest you'd do well to drop this line of argument. It serves nothing, and no one. If I felt Homebiz was improperly misattributing the word to your lips, I feel your using the smear is just as bad as any smear used by others with respect to Obama's candidacy. None of it has any place in civil discourse.

You are probably right, but there is nothing honorable about this discussion when another member reps your rating because he disagrees with you opinion. But I will let that one go...some people when backed into a corner and cannot express themselves or defend their position, feel the only recourse they have is lashing out.

The point I was trying to make is that the other member was all in an uproar and attacked me, over my opinion with something permanent , for someone who doesn't know him, that he just heard of a week ago, and probably wouldn't pee on him if he was on fire.

Probably made the wrong inference, so I will apologize for that. As far as I was concerned it was dropped, until you posted, but I would hate for other members to think that I was a racists. Which would be ridiculous, since I am black.

I did miss this and Rob, I'd agree with Hmansfield here. His comments about Palin's daughter are not comments directed to you, and if you repped him for them, I also feel that's improper. Lots of people have unduly trashed Obama - and whether it's Obama, or anyone else, if I have a problem, I'll let them know, in a post. I don't feel red repping anyone over comments made on a third-person are appropriate.

I agree, I know you're not a racist, and I know your ethnicity, as well - all of which is why I felt it was important to just clear this up.

Look, all - I'm not intending to come off as a preaching schoolmarm, and I certainly have been in the quagmire both of you find yourselves in. It seems to me that there is something good in a substantive exchange between you and Rob, and though I also know what it is to have a DP spat, I'd hope both of you, intelligent people with good points to make, could move on. My $0.02.

Harold - The color of someones skin does not determine whether or not they are a racist... the content of their speech and their writings are a much better indicator. For example, in the following words you suggest that the color on MY skin should have an effect on how I view Sarah Palin...

Not only is my judgment not driven by my skin color... it also isnt affected by the content of unproven internet rumors designed to smear people. The simple fact is you are the ONLY one that has consistently made references and accusations about race in this thread... as indicated by the post quoted above, as well as the following posts...

According to your bio posted elsewhere you are 10 years younger than I am. That'd make you 10 yrs old when I was at Quantico Virginia attending USMC Officer Candidate School learning to defend your right to accuse others of racism.

You have also said of me:
    • I don't have balls
    • I'm only brave when behind a keyboard:
For your sake I'll just consider that a typical personal attack by someone doing a bit of self projection instead of an indication you'd like to discuss those words face-to-face.

For the balance of this thread, please don't suggest others are racists when we arent even making any comments that might lead to the conclusion. I will have no problem when we elect a *qualified* black President... in fact I'd vote today for Colliin Powell before McCain. I just don't happen to think Obama is qualified, and that is based solely on his experience (or lack thereof).

That's true. The rappers are notorious for spreading racism

I am glad you served to protect my freedom...Thanks

Obama is milking his black side for all its worth. That has enough people fooled to vote for him with his pencil thin resume.

Most people in the forum and out of the forum have made it clear that experience and issues do not matter. The citizens like a smile and a good speech. Proguns...anti-guns, prowar, anti-war....depends on the wind or time of day.

Ah, hell ya, glad somebody FINALLY said this. Cuz, for sure, the man is playing the "black thing" as much as he possibly can. I mean, hell, listen to what the man says, for crissakes:

    DIVIDER! RACE-BAITER! HATE MONGER!

The supposition has been raised before - that outside of being black, Obama has nothing going on. Made perfect sense then, as well:

As it has nothing to do with how they'd perform, the good news is the votes for or against Obama solely based on his race will probably be canceled out by the equally silly votes of those that would vote for or against Palin based on her gender.

I've actually heard a lot more self-righteous dialog about gender than race. I'll believe otherwise when we start seeing clips of people gravely discussing just how Obama plans to be a good father while simultaneously serving in office... or how irresponsible it is to take on this burden while he has kids to raise.

I largely agree - good post, Rob.

By the way - corpsman, Balboa Hospital, NRMC Oakland, worked ortho ward, fixing up busted marines, for the most part. I'd like to say thanks for your service as well.

My service was largely reserve status during peacetime (timing is everything) but I'll pass on the kind words to my son... a USMC Sgt that spent 5 yrs active starting just before 9/11. :)

Added: btw... where would jarheads be without corpsmen? It takes balls to run into fire with a rifle... but running in with a stretcher is just freakin insane? LOL. Thanks

It's all service. I was in boot during the Iranian hostage crisis, and our class was mobilized and told to be prepared for action - then we were told to stand down. I spent the rest of my time stateside, learning and practicing ortho OR tech. I didn't seek action, didn't shrink from it should it have come, and am grateful to anyone going in, regardless of their MOS or tour of duty.

Just saw this, thanks, Rob. Funny thing - in A school, when our instructor, a Vietnam-era corpsman, told us what the average life expectancy of corpsmen was in Vietnam (answer: a few minutes). We all grew a bit....quiet. He closed the story with: "so hear this well. You ever go in, first thing you do - drop your helmet, you know, the one with the big red cross on it?"

Pretty blurry eyed through most of A-school - too much night duty, of one kind or another. His lesson stuck.

Well mine was Desert Storm, Military Police, and I had forgotten all about this little spat, until you posted on my blog and called me candy assed little puke.

    Rob Jones

Well, since you have no comments on any of your little posts I’ll assume we’re 1 on 1 here. Nice to see you

focusing on the VP pick. Good strategy. Meanwhile McCain will beat the neophyte you’re pushing for

    Commander in Chief.

btw - Smooth move at DP… you took a red, turned it into a red + an infraction. The next time you say I dont

have balls I’ll let you explain it face to face you candyass little puke.

    Publish that, junior.

You wanted it published...there it is. You need to grow up Rob. Marines usually have more honor than that.

Now...I have work to do. Talk amongst yourselves.

You cant complain to DP about what I said on your blog... especially after you dared me to do so in this thread:

If you dont wanna see the genie, don't rub the bottle. ;)

I'm not complaining. I think you are hilarious.

You just passed right over the post where I apologized, and admitted fault and started sending me threatening emails.

We know who you are now.

I'm just showing the other members how you have taken this forum discussion out into the real world and continue to send me harassing emails, and comments on my blog...and continue to show red reps on my profile, when I had completely forgotten about this :

.....Feel free to call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx if you really are coming to Texas, but I doubt you have the balls to do so. You're good at throwing punches with a keyboard then trying to play the victim card. The word for that in this state is "weenie". Have a nice day, junior. ~ Rob

Really ? Weenie ? How old are you?

You are a very brave man.

Could you two drop it. Men are imperfect by nature. Be magnanimous, forgive each other and just move on.

Don't take this any further, i beg you. You will not gain absolutely anything by taking this further as both of you seem intent on doing.

THat's not race baiting. He always state and also lets the news reporter announce that he will be the first "Black President" which is false. He could correct them but he doesn't. Biracial is biracial. He is milking it for everything it's worse.

Lightless - NP, I absolutely agree. I just replied to his post attacking me. The item in his most recent post was written in response to his first threatening email to me. He's since then sent another. Somebody needs to chill.

LOL. Guess I missed a call.

If nobody objects from diverting to conversation from the current rabbit trail about my many faults (that oughta be an entire thread, maybe even a forum) back to the topic of Sarah Palin... here are tonites breaking developments:

1 - My wife's been on the phone to her cousin in (drum roll) Wassilla Alaska... and she knows Palin and says she's great, she's nothing like the media is portraying her, and she'll be an outstanding person for the job. Problem solved... move on folks, nothing to see here. :)

2 - The NY Post announced they've endorsed John McCain because of his leadership etc etc etc... and because his opponent has a "tissue paper thin resume". That last part sounds vaguely familiar.

3 - MSNBC, which was leading the fight for Obama it seemed... just jerked Chris Matthews and Keith Olberman from anchor spots for the election stuff. Apparently they weren't as good at hiding their partisan preferences as one might hope. I really like both of them, but they definitely seemed in the bag for Obama and didnt care to hide their disdain for the GOP.

It's official folks, I have magical powers. LOL. :D

Much of that was because of outcries from the right. Now if only they would yank right wingers from the same spots on other networks.

I shudder to think about any of these people getting in, how anyone can support either ticket is simply amazing.

Palin 'I was for the bridge to nowhere, before I was against it, but I still took the cash' but I'll be in an advertisement saying I opposed it, leaving out the facts.

Give me a break, talk about fake and fictitious.
