    Hey

Im not trying to promote my site or anything. Its just that this article is relevant to the people on DP especially the webmasters and programmers.

    Do read it

    http://dentalhealthsite.com/long-computer-hours-cause-tooth-decay/

    Edit
Everyones been asking me the source of this one.. Its no high profile study though. Just a study done by a few students done at a university.
Basically.. they found that excessive hours on pc causes dry mouth(medically termed asXerostomia) which is an important cause of tooth decay

and thankyou jarodboy for pointing out a silly embarassing mistake that had crept in the article. Its fixed now

Exactly my thoughts, source would be great (if you need to convince someone). Apart from that, information provided (if correct) is really useful & great. I myself keep a bottle of water on my computer table and drink a lot.

"Saliva is a natural mouthwash which kills all the bacteria in your mouth"?

From a dentist point of view that sentence deserves a huge LOLOLOL.

Do i really have to?
Bacteria of the mouth live in the saliva, if they don't, nobody would have tooth decay.

Actually there are tests to detect the % and the type of virulent bacteria in your saliva to see if you have more probability to develop tooth decay or not so...Saliva doesn't kill bacteria of the mouth.

It doesn't look that bad now, but it's also not very "correct"...

    Take care

Even if that it's true I believe there are far greater threats to our teeth.

I had tooth decay last year, even though i take good care of my teeth, and never had this problem before, it happened a few years after the point i started spending long hours in front of the computer. So if this conclusion is proven to be scientific, it'd not surprise me at all. I tended to connect it and the drying part with smoking but this makes more sense.

Sitting on your ass in general causes tooth decay, butt numbness, and also causes hair splitting comments like this one.

Saliva has IgG and IgA and that may sort of protect you against some diseases but NOT against tooth decay, like I said, bacteria of the mouth and especially Streptococus Mutans, Streptococus Sobrinus and Lactobaccilus, which are the 3 most responsible for tooth decay live happy at our mouth and saliva.
