Does Google care how many times I load my own site's pages?

    Hi everyone,

Quick question: Since I know some advertisers pay per impression, and google's counting up the ad impressions, does google get upset if I'm working on my website and loading the pages?

Obviously I didn't add the AdSense until I was just ready to launch, but now that's it's up and running... whenever I make tweaks to the code can I skim through the site to make sure my changes are good? Can't google just ignore me by IP address as far as impressions go? It would sure make sense if they could.

Or do they not really care?

I sure hope they don't count your own impressions. I view my sites many times a day. I hope those don't count as impression for the ads or for a visitor in analytics.

You can load your own site as many times as you like.
No problems with that, just make sure, that you dont click your own ads.

They will count as a visitor in your analytics unless you set it up so they ignore your IP address.

I would not load them excessively. I view them quite a bit when developing, though I usually remove the ad and replace it with a filler for this purpose. Google knows you need to view your own pages, and a site like mine which is a reference is sometimes used by the owner, himself.

Just do not continuously refresh the same page over and over again in a short while or it may fall into the realm of generating invalid impressions, afterall, some ads are paid by the impression, not the click.

I think it doesn't matter because most of the people are viewing their ownsite. Furthermore it is common sense t o make so right ? Because the webmaster need to update their site, so it can't be avoided.

If you were to generate thousands of impressions over a very short period of time (like, a day or two) it might catch their attention - other than that, they should expect to see a small/moderate amout of impressions from webmasters.. Just watch that click-finger..

I suggest you do not worry about the number of impressions generated when you visit the site. Make changes in your site and then take a good look at them, don't worry about impressions.

Google don't care about that small increase in the number of impressions as long as you don't click your ads...

As Sinn has stated, you can load your website as many times as you want, no problem with that. Just do not click your own ads, not even just once. You could get banned.
