Israel allows weapons transfer to Palestinians

Security officials say Israel allowed PA security forces to receive some 1,000 rifles, tens of thousands of bullets through Jordan in move aimed at bolstering Abbas against Hamas

The official says the shipment of Kalashnikov rifles and tens of thousands of bullets reached the Palestinians through Jordan about one week ago. He says Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arranged the transfer when they met August 31.

Israel has taken similar steps in the past to bolster Abbas against his rivals from Hamas, the hard-line Islamic group that controls the Gaza Strip.

it is not tens of thousands it is ten thousand which means 10 per gun.
sure as shit it will not do anything for fatah against hamas and if anything it will reduce it's influence.
this is a mistake and these guns will turn on Israel sooner or later.

thats 4 sure...and it'll back fire, it does not help abbas's image(in his territory) when he cozies up to Israel. And ten thousand, boohoo, i am sure that amount is transferred via tunnels from egypt on a monthly basis. Hamas was elected fair and square thanks George W. Bush's ingenious plan for a new middle east. Wanna fix the problem, vote democrat!!

The article says "tens of thousands" not "ten thousand" so what are you basing your comment on?

i do not support the transfer of arms to palestanians. regardless of how much and to which faction.
    edit:
i am also against palestanians having an army air force or navy. they should spend all their money and efforts in making on building their country

    Good move.

US and Israel should be doing more empowering Abbas government to speed up the peace process.

When Obama comes in, I am pretty sure he will try to solve the problem more Diplomatic than George Bush.

    Peace,

Lemon my bro, you suppose to know that "Palestinians" do not exist. Please write "Palestinians" next time. :)
about the topic, again, like in Oslo stupid "agreements", we give them weapons and they will use it against us later on.

Its really very simple. If you believe that Palestine has the right to be an independent country (which the UN has ruled that it does), then they are entitled to weapons transfers, army, navy, air force, etc etc. It has nothing to do with resource allocation.

i do not argue if they are entitled or not.
i think is a total waste of their resources. they will never have enough to fight israel and israel has to protect them against every one else. They should concentrate all their resources for improvement of the life of their people. they have a lot of things to do and should not waste their money or manpower on a useless army navy or air force.
weapons are tools of war. we need peace so weapons are counterproductive

Israel didnt give them weapons so the can fight Israel. The gave them weapons so the can fight the democratically elected Hamas. So basically they are supplying them with weapons because they do not agree with the results of the elections that they and George the Genius W. Bush fought so hard to put in place. Its hard to believe that the Mossad/CIA did not predict the outcome of the elections correctly. Intelligence failure or calculated move on their part I am not too sure. Lets face it, civil strife between the Palestinians is not the worst thing that could happen to Israel.

the unintended consequences of their action is what i am talking about similar to israel's support for hamas at its beginning and US support of the Afghanistan mujahedin . there is no way that fatah can over come hamas militarily as they are mostly political cronies. if they are pushed to take any action against hamas my guess is that they will run away like they did in gaza.
having 10 bullets is not going to make them fight.
and since i support peace i do not see that a strife among palestanians as a good thing.

I can't believe we are in agreement on this. I really am surprised at your take on it, it throws a curve ball in my theories about you (based on all your other posts.)

No one is attacking Palestine, so why do they need weapons? Wow, this is just crazy stupid to give them something to kill more Israelis with. This is as dumb as giving them their terrorist back in exchange for the people they murdered.

Where is Israel going with all these crazy decisions?

you do not agree with me because you are sold on the stupid options that have presented to you.
i believe there is another option that is called peace and this option not only the best for palestanians but it is also the best thing for israel. i would love to talk about my solutions to find out if they are really acceptable or not but i can not get any one to discuss them in a reasonable and logical way. people keep on arguing against a position that they do not even know.
as i said many times, i believe there is a solution to this conflict and this is the best option for all parties involved.

I am guessing you didn't read my post. Either that or because of your broken English I missed something. Please type complete sentences and use capital letters, etc. to form proper sentences that make sense.

Hint: I said we agreed on something. Not disagreed.

I was trying to offer an explanation of why you do not agree with me more often.
I feel it is because i look for the answer in places that you do not look.
