    Hi Guys,

Here on DP, I have found few lists of dofollow forums and there are many webmaster forums too.

    Well, my question is:

Are webmaster forums (e.g DP, Webmasterworld, HTMForums, etc..) effective and helpful to get backlinks and ranking?

How much backlinks will be effective and useful if I will use webmaster forums for my real estate site?

Pls share ur ideas and experience of webmaster forums.

I posted it on another thread but I didn't get proper answer. Hope, this thread will be work out. Thanks

If they are popular dofollow forums, it will definitely improve your Search engine rankings...but, if they are not well popular, it's just waste of time.

hmm... is it that effective for a non-relevant site though? Like why would I have 300 links from digitalpoint for my health blog?

I can def see the relevancy if it was for an seo or web marketing site but what is the real value if it's from DP and other dofollow webmaster forums?

if you pick a popular busy forum, then pick a sub-forum which is not so busy and post there. on busy forums, posts dont stay on the front page for long for google to index the thread. i have seen better result for backlinks with relatively less busy forums or sub-forums. depends on which thread you post also and how many perople perticipate on that thread. more comments on a thread, longer it stays on the front page and better change it has to be indexed

I guess google dont care if a post is in the main page or not, it spiders all the site.

but, I think if forum or subforum is more busy and getting more updated, there are more chances to get indexed by google as compare to less busy forums.

If forums is more busy that means our thread will get more visits and there are more chances to get traffic to our site.

    What do u think?

    That's a good point.

You'll get backlinks from the forums that might not be particularly relevant to your content/niche etc, but on a busy forum , you will always pick up organic traffic from readers checking your links out.

The best backlink shall be in the same niche.
Else, i can say the forum only can bring you traffic but not much in SERP

The majority of the traffic i get is clickthrough, and not SERP. i review websites, and people usually get mad at me for being so critical, so they go to my website and look through it.... then they give me crap for how bad my site looks. but hey a visitor is a visitor. i use allot of adsense too and you would be amazed at how many of these people that just go to your site to make fun of you click the adds.

I would be spending my time searching for health forums, blogs, etc. The forums will the dofollow tag will get you juice but even though the blogs may have nofollow, prob bring some decent traffic if you leave worthy comments, same prob with platforms such as Yahoo answers.
