Welfare is around 5K a year! In my province its called Ontario works and people only get around $580 a month in government support if they can't find a job.
Canada does have a poverty Problem, even for a 1st world country.
The government here put really low to get people off their asses and work or suffer and die. The negative side effect of this politics is children suffer from this, the adults on on welfare with children. Its called Child poverty in canada and its growing.

Here in the UK for somebody my age. (In dollars to be nice.) :D

I would need: $16,000 per year. That being mininum. I would say $20,000 is a nice amount for someone nearlly 18 and $40,000 would be nice for someone in their twenties.

£50 per week rent (£2600 per year)
£25 per month council tax (£300 per year)
£50 per week food etc (£2600 per year)
£100 per month energy bills (£1200 per year)
£100 per month other bills (£1200 per year)

Total £7900 per year to exist/survive

Different parts of the UK have different living rates - and if sharing a house with other people (renting a room e.g. student house etc), the total costs for all bills are reduced.

It is possible to survive on less, but unlikely to have any spare money to be able to save up and get out of the situation... simply surviving month by month etc.

about $200 a month lol but thats with student loans and money from university.

To be a STUDENT in manchester:

    Rent - $720/month
    Utility bills - $150/month
    Food - $200/month
General (transport, going out, clothes) - $400/month
    Drinking - $200/month

Total = $1670 per month to be a student

however thats sharing a house and eating cheap food.

To earn an ok living where I live near London, probably $5k/month, to be average I would guess about $8k

    gotta love the student lifestyle.

I think an extra grand would really help out. If I could just get my mortgage paid with adsense that would be great!
