The content of the blog might make a difference here. If your perspective as a non-English speaker would come into play at all, then shaky English could make you appear more authentic and add to the authority of your point of view.

If you blogged, for example, about your visit to California and the culture shock you experienced.

If it's a grammar blog, though, you could be in trouble.

Heck, I agree with everybody. Just go do it already.

Well I didn't expect so positive replies :)

I decided to try writing a couple of posts and then read them to see if I would find them likable enough.. Can't decide yet. I'm a very good writer on my native language but now I feel quite handicapped. Or maybe I'm too vain about my writing, not sure.

Anyway, if you are curious, phpnoob.net is the site. Still pondering about the design - it's my first time using wordpress. Of course, if you think it's just a smart way to promote my new blog, just skip it :)

Well, if that was really the only point, I guess it's unlikely you would have waited until the 22nd post in the thread before slipping the url in... <grin>

in my opinion, a good command in english is negligible if it's just minimal because we all make mistakes.

Grammatical errors shouldn't really bother you, I have seen articles on Ezine that look like they were churned out by someone sitting in a rolling sphere and then just puked out somehow and yet they have been published. Write from your heart, tell a story, give the readers something to ponder over and you will have a blog that will have people coming back for more. English is just a tool to help express your thoughts, it is not the king of writing, content is, and thats all that matters. Good luck with your blogging experience:)

Go for it, it will help you get better. If you need feedback on your writing, I suggest you try out Helium.com, Hubpages or AssociatedContent (they also pay you a little bit for every article you write).

I would say your English language skills are quite good. I have seen many native English speakers writing terrible sentences which are hard to understand.
One small tip - don't try to translate writings from your language to English as that would produce some symptomatic mistakes like: "Well I’m only one person "
instead of " I'm working alone" and some other mistakes that clearly indicate that you are not a native English speaker. A friend who is a linguist once told me the best way to learn a new language is to think on it.

I agree with everyone else. Your English is fine. If you really want to start a blog, then go for it.
