I did a install of google crome today, i have found that it is alot faster in loading page time compared to other browsers. The upload speed is slower compared to firefox and IE which was no good for me. I plan to keep crome installed on my pc for normal web surfing as it use's alot less CPU then firefox, but in add-ons,themes,speed,ect firefox is still the best browser yet.

the reason that chrome is getting all attention is because google is the owner of it. Besides, it is more likely those who downloaded the chrome browser are webmaster. I still have a strong believe that chrome is just a gimmick to attract investors and drive the stock price upward.

Just see: Orkurt, gtalk and other google products that aren't really make it to the mass market. Likewise, Chrome will be in the similar position. Furthermore, please note that the TOS, according to one member here, everything you typed into Chrome belong to GOOGLE. be careful of that!

Chrome is a hype! which will settle in a period of time..
all the attention being given to chrome is just because its a Google product, there is a browser called Browzar, which has the tendency to compete with Chrome, but its not that famous coz its not a Google product :)

google wants to get the most information from users, so they can sell ad inventory to advertisers

According to benace (one member of DP)

"when reading it basically says anything you write in Chrome, whether that be an email, a blog post, a forum post, its IMMEDIATELY, Google's property, no questions asked."

I wonder what would happen when google becomes the major product on the Internet? I am scared just to think of it!

Wrong, that was under the old EULA which has now been fixed. Google does not own the content you create under the chrome browser.

The add-ons for FF is really what keep me. and with Chrome being so new I think those with an eye for developing will hate to rush back to the drawing board to re-code their efforts for a product that may or may not take off to the masses.

I said this would happen two years ago:
Chrome Reflects the Desktop in Decline

Chrome, already, is changing the internet, the desktop, and how browsers work on the web. Even now, it has given me the "go ahead" on some projects where the question was how much javascript to use and how much it should play a part. Chrome has given this area of computing a major push into the next generation.

And for those who are dwelling on "missing features", remember that Chrome is only at version 0.2

How does chrome indicate that the desktop is on the decline? In terms of features it is virtually identical to Firefox or IE.

I have tested Chrome and I think it is a good browser. However, the only thing I always concern about Chrome is privacy. As we are webmaster, most of us know about Google toolbar and it has been used to track all user activities until now, even Google never stated nor denied neither. There is most likely that Chrome will be used for the same purpose.

In my opinion, Chrome is not a gimmick and it has a potential to dominate web browser market. Why?? 85-90% of internet users are not webmaster like us, most of them know nothing like we knows. They just looking the nice UI and the fastest page loading time, and yes "add-ons". In terms of "pure" browser - Opera is the best but Firefox has gained advantage because of their add-ons feature. What will happen if Chrome will be evolved and combine all strongest point of Opera and Firefox together?

Useless - perhaps to you. I just read your blog post. This is where you lost me:

"To me, no one want another application if the current one is perfectly usable."

You are kidding me, right? So, are you still using Netscape .9 because it is still "perfectly usable"?

nope, i'm not kidding. to most people, I believe they hate changes. Who would want to move to a new location? who would want to change their job? just to name a few.

If I can use Firefox and chrome does not provide something better, why would I use chrome?

People say Chrome is faster, however, I really think it's based on placebo effect since Firefox is fast enough and I dont think we can really see a large difference between chrome and firefox in term of speed unless we use some sort of speed meter.

Google stated that they will use chrome as a tools to offer google's products. they dont want to force other browsers to do so. I think this make sense. Personally, I even thing chrome is just a tools to show and advertise their products/services, not mainly for surfing purpose. lol

To the contrary, Matt Cutt's has at least 2 posts on his blog about this and Chrome has their privacy policy posted online along with a FAQ.
Google has stated they hope Chrome will help improve all browsers on the web and they hope other browser vendors will take their code and use it to make theirs better.
