The most overlooked thing about getting your keywords in your domain name is that every link back to your site will contain keywords relevant to your material, this is extremely beneficial.

I agree with those thinking the domain name plays a large role.

It does, you can't really deny it. But if you don't have the proper domain name doesn't meant you can't compete against those that do.

Definitely go for floorpaint and your secret words .co.uk lol. You will always have a leverage in terms of ranking against your competitors on the engines provided that you both have exactly the same backlinks/popularity/contribution and more importantly branding.

    However do consider some facts:

If you search for Computer, its not computer.com which pops up in first place but it is usually Dell.com or Apple.com or Wikipedia.org right? End of the day, with good authority the words in the domain name really does not matter. *AUTHORITY is the keyword!*

How long should be a domain name?
Is it OK if my domain name has about 26 letters(without www and com) ?

    Thanks

Good point. Can you share some results, or this is your opinion only?

I agree entirely with DomainGamer. People here are just shouting - "yes, get domain with keywords, it help you rank better" - but hardly anyone but myself and a few others have actually explained why... having a keyword domain helps not directly but indirectly through people who link to you using your keyword domain as the anchor text.

Earlier on in my time as an SEO'ist I used to analyze many search terms using SEO for firefox and found very often a site with less links would actually rank higher than one with more.

What I found to be consistent in nearly all of these cases was that the higher ranked site had less actual links, but more of those links contained the keywords I searched for in the anchor text.

I wouldn't call myself a guru but I am in the strong opinion that anchor text plays a MAJOR role in SERPs, I think too many people overlook this as something minor.

    Hi

It is important to have " Floor paint" as the domain name but it will not itself
decide the ranking. It is the " Keyword " that will decide the positioning to the
    maximum extent.

    Cheers
