I am working on an entry - I will try to have it up by tonight. It's already about a third done...just need to work on the rest.

 

Hmmm... I see things are really starting to heat up on this thread. Great work guys and thanks for the effort.

sorenson: great entry. I like your overall design and the way you positioned things. Strong entry but still some things that can be improved: I don't feel like you captured the right colour scheme that should be red and white similar to the red and white from coca cola. The red you used looks to me a little pale a little faint. I need a more solid red. Not sure about the design next to the logo but I am sure that can be changed. I see potential but let's see what the other guys come up with before I pick the finalists.

kiteguy123: thanks for considering this. I intend to end this in about one week or perhaps sooner if I find that knock-out design. Lots of very strong and promising entries so far but just not the knock-out one yet.

hetzenauer: again, looking good. It's a bit early to ask for changes in case some other stronger entries happen but would it be hard to change the font colour in the main window from that burgundish shade to red?

xxxplatinium: thanks for the entry. It's a pleasant one and it's got plenty of plusses but also some minuses. I like the thin stylish fine lines but not so sure about the position. I think the three windows/rectangles should be at the bottom not top and also I think there should also be a rectangle for the welcome to the ...section as well as another rectangle for the great price reduction section. BTW, did I mention I like rectangles?

It's really late at my end now so for all new entries or alterations I will surely let you know when I come back in a few hours. I really need to get some rest cause it's church tomorrow as well as Father's day here in Australia so I have a few things to do. But rest assured proteindude will be back.

Here's a quick look at the progress I've made so far. I've been trying to snatch time to work...but so far my two year old has managed to empty half a gallon of orange juice on the kitchen floor and then proceed to dumpt he cat's food in it.



Feedback on it would be appreciated. Just as a clarification though...this is far from unfinished. This is "ZOMG-Try-to-sktech-out-my-idea-QUICK".

xxxplatinium: looks better but only just. I am sorry you missed my point but I prefer to have almost everything in some kind of rectangles. You only have three rectangles/windows on the left. There also seems to be a little too much space between these windows/rectangles. While your designs looks pleasant I feel it needs to have more punch, it needs to be more attractive. For use of rectangles according to my taste please look at these two websites here and here

sorenson: definitely moving in the right direction. Looks better. Just a question: I noticed in some of the designs the globe in my logo looks a little oval. Why do you think that is? I know this is not an issue and can probably be fixed, but I am just wondering. You don't need to do any changes at this stage. Once I choose the finalists I may ask for some changes.

greenleaf: thanks for the entry. I appreciate this is not finished so here are my initial thoughts: colour scheme needs to be more red and white. Your red looks a little more like burgundy. Like you said, it still needs some more work such as a major window/rectangle somewhere on the left. Also the windows you did should be more in a landscape rather than a portrait. In fact I prefer the whole design to be more in a landscape format as opposed to a portrait. This way you may be able to see the whole page at once without needing to scroll down too much. Again, something similar to this website

It's definitely one of the designs I am considering. I haven't decided on the finalists yet as I am still waiting for some other entries from other designers who expressed their interest in this contest. I will probably decide on the finalists in the next two days which already looks like a tough decision considering the strong entries I received (including yours )

 

Here's my first entry. It looks a bit simple at the moment, but I added in some squares like you asked. I also tried to make it so there was no scrolling. The logo will need a white border around the text to make it stand out more, but I'll sort that out if you like the design

kiteguy 123: Thanks for the entry. It's tough to give you feedback because like you said it looks a bit simple. I understand you don't want to waste your time in case I don't like it. However, at the same time please consider my position: I have some other entries where the guys put some effort in and then obviously when I compare their entries with yours theirs look stronger. Please don't misunderstand me, I am just letting you know my dilemma. You've got some elements right such as the landscape design. The windows are also in a landscape format which is great. I think you trying to add some colours to the boxes/windows is creative but somehow doesn't match. I prefer an overall red and white theme. The logo I think should be on the left and the boxes on the side should be slightly larger and perhaps only three of them. I also think some other boxes would look good next to each other underneath the big rectangle. I know this entry of yours can be developed more because it has some potential but I think as it is right now I think some of the other entries are stronger.
