We can defiantly say that Chrome is still far from beating out other major browsers such as FF3, but I have to say, for a small, lite browser, it does a pretty good job with the fastest cold and warm starts. On the other hand some controversy was brought up over to ToS... when reading it basically says anything you write in Chrome, whether that be an email, a blog post, a forum post, its IMMEDIATELY, Google's property, no questions asked. Now even though Google probably won't turn this against us, I'm gonna wait till thats revised before I download.

There are just too many flaws associated with using Chrome. Personally, I don't think it has got anything got to do with attracting investors but on the market perspective, it should be looked upon as trying to control every possible market niche.

    Mhmm, a Gimmick, yes.

When you have a pity job as a janitor in Google's new empire, I will laugh.

"Google Gimmick" will be the name of their welfare program.

I am not sure I can agree with your logic.

Just because you get a browser "free" with you OS does not mean that there is no reason to use or make another browser. (FireFox is a good example of that) There are many reasons someone would want to change there browser from the default one they get with there OS.

The main reason people would decide to use a different browser over there default one is if they think the new browser is in some way better, faster and or safer.

I don't think "Gimmick" is the right word for something that has had well over a year of R&D.

There are a few things about Chrome that I don't like, and that is why I have not used it much.. but it is still in Beta so I will update and look at it again later. I also think it was way to early for Google to put a link to it on there homepage.

    Just sharing my opinion

    Cheers
    James

Unless Google can ink a deal with someone to distribute Chrome (ex. pre-installed as default browser on new computer) it will at best knock off FireFox, Safari, etc. It may be extremely fast, but most mainstream users don't ever complain about a slow browser. Only techies will upgrade their browsers.

I will continue to use it, mainly to ensure that all my websites render properly under it.

    I agree with you guys.

Chrome is just another attempt by Google to control everything. It's just bullcrap.

Not to mention Google has become really political, being one of the top contributors of Barack Obama, which I find disgusting for a company to do (be political).

They already allow others to have information that happens in google/gmail.

They are quickly becoming the next Microsoft Monopoly on the internet.

I say, they do something useful, like update Google Talk, that shit is so neglected it's not even funny!

i'm actually using Chrome browser as my main browser on my desktop. Not on my laptop due to the synaptic touchpad scrolling bug. i also have firefox and ie open but that's more for the addon tools like the PR and other junk. but i find chrome better on memory management and leaner. also renders pages faster.

I think that may be the biggest oversimplification in the history of the internet. Yes there are a lot of internet browsers available on the web, so how is that relevant to how good chrome is? I can't see any purpose in your post beyond plugging your own site. Chrome is more lightweight than firefox and once it fixes the various small bugs it has, gets add-ons, and gets out of beta it has good chance to dominate the market.

Chrome is getting popular day by day. The number of download is getting greater and greater as the number of days are passing. May be it will be repalcing FireFox one day.

Chrome scored 78/100 from acid tests***. I don't know it could be a criteria for users.
