Affiliate guidance, please

    Hello,

I'm new to affiliate programs (I'm registered with Clickbank and Commission Junction). I'm not sure exactly what to do to get on my way of making this a successful business. At the moment I'm using a couple of blogs to promote a few programs but nothing positive yet. I don't have much traffic though, I average about 10 visits a day (I know, incredibly low). Can anyone give me some tips and pointers? For instance, is a blog a good way to go or should I be thinking about a website? Any and all help appreciated. Thanks!

I also use blogs. I find the key is to focus the ads on your site to the niche of the blog.

Yes, traffic helps, but if you get the right traffic you'll make money because those readers came to your site for a specific reason.

Clickbank and CJ are good places to start. Check what they offer in relation to your sites. If you want another place to look, check out pepperjam. They are constantly adding new vendors and offer some different opps compared to CB and CJ

Blogging should only be 1 of your advertising methods, look to use Squidoo and social bookmarking aswell.

I am not having much luck with CJ.

    Doing OK with Adsense

Have just started promoting pepperjam and its product line....I will get paid next payout

Beside blogging, I am active on forums and also write articles. To drive traffic I'll also put a link to a post in a Reply if it answers a question.....such as

    http://www.learntoearn101.net/2008/08/how-to-make-money-with-adsense.html

And I use the same technique with Yahoo Answers...I'm really surprised at the amount of traffic that can bring

Not sure I can add much to what you've already heard and seem to be doing. If you're seeing at least some income, you must be doing something right. Better than me anyway, I'm fairly new too and have a blog and a couple of websites but still not seeing much of anything. I think it does take a good bit of time and tweaking. All the traffic info. I've heard are about what you're doing, i.e., blogging, forums, articles, seo tactics for both on your page(s) as well as backlinks. From what I understand, backlinks are what you're doing with blogging, articles, etc. Also try to get those links to your keywords and not just you site name.
    Best of luck!

There are a lot of ways to market your program. Blogging is good, article writing, so many different ways. Nice thing is that you can do it without costing a lot of money. PM if you want more.

Like I said I would sign up for Market Leverage. Go ahead and sign up in my signature. I would also subscribe to PPC-Coach. Which is also in my signature. Combining the great offers on Market Leverage with the knowledge learned on PPC Coach I am making $100 a day on average.

I'm a bit heavy on study but light on action when it comes to affiliate marketing. I've been afraid to pull the trigger and actually run some campaigns myself. I'm on CJ as well, but I find it very hard to choose advertisers that have good programs and products that I can sell.

If you're looking to bone up on some more training, I certainly suggest The Black Ink Project: http://www.theblackinkproject.com/ . It's a great resource, especially since it's free!
