I woke up this morning with a strange question in my head: how many sites are on the internet? SE advertise about how many billion pages they crawl, but where to find that information? I've seen sites ranked a bit more than 23 million on Alexa, could be a hint, though.
that could never be known for sure, Wiht milions of site being created everyday and million sof them just closing, Is hard to keep a good track, here is a example Results 1 - 10 of about 21,070,000,000 for a. (0.22 seconds) from google here is another example 1 - 10 of 41,000,000,000 for a (About) - 0.13 s from yahoo.
I heard some bloke on a radio program recently say that there are as many websites as there are people on the planet - more than 6 billion. Can't recall his name, but I know he was introduced as some kind of expert. His figure sounds a bit over the top to me. Still, the way things are going it's only a matter of time before we reach that number.
I agree with mimm, in the billions for sure. Think of all the .info domains that were purchased, lol . And are you counting sites w/o .com's, etc?
Actual website (not counting subdomains free hosting etc etc...) Cant possible be more then 180,000,000
Billions, Trillions or may be Zillions. Its hard to predict but one thing is sure that they are numerous in number.
There are 1,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,000 sites.. If you have a doubt then count it again..
