Actually I do agree with the OP. I get tired of seeng threads like "When is your birthday?", "What is your favorite color?" "How big are your turds" etc etc, but I generally just ignore them and go on to other more interesting stuff.

I can just imagine someone sitting in front of their computer, a blank look on their face, drool running down their chin, and thinking as hard as they can, "Hmmm what can I start a thread about today? I gotta build up my post count..... Oh wait! I know an excellent topic for a new thread, I will ask everyone if they like bananas!"

Lots of people are padding their post counts so that whatever they are advertising in their signatures is more likely to be seen. If one person starts 100 threads, and all those started threads has a link to their site then a great number of people are going to see that link, and may click on it. It is a form of cheap easy advertising. Simple solution, don't click any links in a stupid thread.

i click only the links which seems interesting after rolling over mouse on that :D

but again we cant control thread creations by noobs

i have seen some idiots who is asking the same repeated questions (making thread) about blogging in a year even she/he claims she/he is in blogging since 2 years

Well, The OP should try and make such threads.... He doesn't seem to be having good impressions for his opinion. The results are showing the real answer.(Just check his blobs for instance)

I though a general thread is just that general..

I mean if is general, why not talk about anything right ?

Now I understand like the OP said some of this thread are just dumb, But guess what, We the ones that complaints are the sucker one, think about it

You see a thread there, Looks dumb stupid to you right,

Why in the hell will you go and open the tread or even post ?

I ignored 70 percent of the thread here.. It's just dont have what im looking for, So I just read the heading, If I like the heading im going to open the thread and even post if I see I have something positive to say..

But like the Original Poster of this tread, He say he hate dumb ass thread or post, But then again, He does the same thing, So you really are contradicted yourself on what you saying..

Me personally I dont care what users of this community post, Is the reason why they made the General Forum, To have people talk about anything,

This General Forum is not to talk about money, Unless I miss something

is to talk about anything and anything, Feel free to talk any subject you like, But keep within the TOS guide..

In the TOS guide I did not say we could not talk about dumb or ask dumb question ? or is it stated I just miss it..

At least this thread has some sort of substance and a solid observation with correct grammar, and not that from someone who doesn't speak English. "How tall are you" is about some people can come up with to string a coherent sentence together. Shame the internet is INTERNATIONAL sometimes.

yeah this thread is dumb too, why do we go into it?

Cause everyone reads THREADS for DUMMIES!!! :D
(there probably is a for dummies book called that, but I'm sure it would relate to sewing and not forum threads lol)

Whine moan and groan thread - lol none will ever exist
Feedback goes into the feedback section
General chat therad - this would basically promote chit chatting, and the rule of thumb is to just use your AIM, MSN, Yahoo for crap like that.

They perhaps wanted to get some rest about all the business talks around here and probably decided to slide in a no-brainy questions.
Also, as mentioned already perhaps probably because of the adsense revenue sharing.
