This doesn't seem like such a fair ad. It basically tricks people into believing it's a YouTube video for a click. AdSense does this?
It's a video ad, and listed on their ad formats page.https://www.google.com/adsense/static/en_US/AdFormats.html Google isn't the one dropping money for the ad, so they don't care. It's wrong when publishers are the ones doing the trickery.
I actually think that for the publisher to earn something from these types of ads, the user will need to click the ad twice - once to start the video playing, and then again to actually visit the website site of the advertiser. ( I am not sure though how the advertiser pays for such ads - whethers its for the inital click or only the one where the user is taken to their site. ) Alex
Yeah, that's what I thought. I'm not sure though, I won't click my own ads (ever) with how strict AdSense is on that, so to me it just looks like an animated banner designed to look like a video. I could easily be wrong, I don't have any experience with these.
Well I actually thought it was a video ad as well - it sure as hell looks like one. However, if someone is running an ad campaign with an image such as the one above then I don't think Google will let the ad campaign run for long. Alex
