Work In Process. Once you first create a lens, it's put into WIP status for the first 24 hours or so. After it's out of WIP then they put it into the search results and allow you to add it to groups.

It's entertaining if nothing else. It does seem to be worth it from a backlink point of view, and if your lens gets a few visitors you may make a little coin.

Why not both? I can spin an article into Lens content in about 5 minutes, add a few pics from the CC at Flickr then an RSS and YouTube module and I've got a decent new page that will rank fast for my keyword.

Heck, with some smart linking a lens can top the SERPs before an article gets reviewed at some places... once it does get reviewed I can have 2 spots high in the SERPs between my article and lens if I did my keyword research right.

No point limiting yourself to just one, right?

I've started creating a few more, partly for fun, and the other part for links. I actually made a $1 off one the other day which was unexpected to be honest.
I also found this digg style site for lens if anyone is interested:

How did you make that $1? Was it through the Amazon sales? Payouts should be coming in the next few days, but this payment will be for July activity. :)

its wastage of time if you are about to earn money. It is nice practice if you are about to get SEO banefit. Use adsense rather to use squidoo for earning money.

I really can't see a huge amount of money to be made on Squidoo unless you are doing a lot of affiliate offers, but even then you could do it on your own site. The real benefit is the SEO benefit. You can push good terms and get real diversity in the links you have. Someone mentioned articles as being better, maybe that's true, but it's only until the next google update. Things change and diversity is the only thing that survives.
