Ok guys, I know its a wrong question to ask when everyone around is talking about the new Over Hyped Google Chrome Browser. I know its too early for me to say its over hyped but then I personally did not like its too plain non plugin integrated usability. Anyways I was just wondering whether the Name Cuil Faded away from our minds. What happened to all the discussions about it being the next Google and stuff. No one even remembers it now or do you? I suddenly thought of Cuil when I was driving my car this morning. Came home and wrote an article after discussing others experience with the search engine. here is my findings : http://www.iwebie.com/cuil-vs-google WHAT do you Guys think. Or just tell me if you guys will use this Search Ever again. A comment or 2 in my blog would be helpful if you have the time...
i use cuil sometimes..but it is not as good as other search engines especially google.. there is no comparison
Thanks for this info mate. This surely is a visible reflection of the number of cuil users. Man! they must now be repenting on claiming themselves to be the Future Google Killers.
Chrome is wide open to use plugins and addons like Firefox. The hooks are there but are not implemented yet. After all, this is only version 0.2
I think they released it way too early. The results it brought back were atrocious!! The fact that they had 3 times more pages indexed than google (or whatever it was) was just a gimmick!
@jacky8: I think they were very well funded. They did not loose much @drhowarddrfine: Its true. But they released quite too early. The first impression is always the best impression. They should have released with some basic SEO plugins atleast as everyone wants to be on top in google and when the very own Google browser does not help, it kinda puts SEO off. @ct2k7: Are you sure its faster. When I have to test the INternet Connectivity, the first thing I do is , check if Google.com opens up. @MTBuckler: Yep I agree with you. They released it too early and claiming them to be the next Google Killers was a Gimmick.
I even think google launch "Chrome" campaign to kill "Cuil" fever. as you can see now everybody focus on Crome but not Cuil. Even the name are similar. what a good killing strategy.
I still use it a bit... But I don't have any special "love" for it and it certainly hasnt replaced my heavy use of google and yahoo for what I am looking for
Could you tell us why you are using it then. Why I am asking you this is none of us want to waste time in other search engines when Google has become our Primary Search Engine. I mean there must be something that would be attracting you that is making you wanna search in there. It is exactly that aspect we would like to know about and get enlightened @tradeya: Amazing thinking bro...
I actually try Cuil a couple times a day to see if it is improving. Heck, Google used to be the dark horse when AltaVista was the top dog. So far I have not seen anything making it worth my while to switch over, but that does not mean it can't happen.
They had good marketing to get that much attention, but obviously they launched waaaay too early. It's going to be tough to recover from all the hype and subsequent disappointment.
Such a stupid name also, who was the brains behind that, yeah lets create a google killer, what shall we call it, I know, how about cuil, fantastico...
