I will come out and say I support Ron Paul. I see him as a Libertarian though and not a Republican (even though that may be his latest affiliation).

And I don't think we are all hateful or militant either.

It's really sad to see that people are lumping his supporters into all one category. We have extremists just like any other group does. Religion, Democrats, Republicans, etc. all have their extremists, but I'm not going to judge by them.

And to respond to the actual thread topic gauharjk, no I don't see the police as taking away our rights to protest. If you read what YOU wrote, we have the right to PEACEFULLY protest. Uhhh, from what I've seen, these are anything but peaceful protests. People have the right to protest, but they certainly don't have the right to destroy property and endanger the safety of others while doing it.....

In 68 they DID NOT use preemptive raids.

They bashed heads on the streets is all.

But that's what we all do best around here.

ALL pro-choicers are going to die and go to hell
All Pro-lifers are sick morality police.
    All Christians are hateful bigots.

Look, I'm sorry if I have offended some of you Ron Paul people. When I see that Ron Paul avatar it is memorable. It's just what I saw and remembered.

Then he'll surely send you to help some people in Georgia... or maybe Ukraine... that could be a new playground for Mccain... hmmm... how about Venezuela? They have loads of oil, and a good excuse to invade too... Or maybe just plain Lebanon. I hope you like Lebanese food... :p

I've seen many protests and freedoms of speech without arrests.. It's only when you get out of hand then you get arrested. It's called disturbing the peace.

Actually, Lebanon is not as bad as the media in India makes it out to be.

You know absolutely nothing about India. I don't think you've ever met or talked to an Indian. You should visit India once, IMO. You will go back a changed man...

There are many Indians in the Middle East and in the United States. The Indians that live here in the US seem to be quite peaceful and hard working.

They are. They're mainly interested in a better price from retail establishments.

Thats like a staple of 7-11's and Toot N' Totum's around America. It would be total devastation and one of the darkest points in history.

You won't have to wait that long. Those American PIGS should just mind their own business. What an EVIL empire America has become.

    Per Kaethy:

I agree with the above. I believe, for a number of reasons, the American population is nowhere nears as loudly or aggressively, protesting the war in Iraq as the population did during the war in Vietnam.

The Iraq war hasn't lasted as long, there are nowhere's near the number of American wounded and dead, and ultimately young people(men) and their parents aren't faced with a draft as during Vietnam.

(that isn't a unique American phenomena....its happened around the world with regard to unpopular wars--at least in free nations).

Yes, the response to the protests looked ugly.

Referencing China in the OP....did you see what happened during the Olympics. The Chinese set up a "protest area" far removed from the Olympic venues. Nobody showed up to protest. How faked was that?

You clearly did not read the reports. People were arrested in PREEMPTIVE raids, BEFORE the convention started, and BEFORE demonstrations started. How was that getting out of hand?

That's thought crime. They were allegedly THINKING of causing mayhem, so doors were busted down, and people were arrested.

We are definitely losing our freedoms, while complacent people are watching dvd's and eating pizza. I see it on their faces when I stand on the street corners demonstrating. A large percentage of people who drive by don't even want to read our signs to see what it's all about.

No "thought" crime. These people are some of the worst America has to offer and just solidifying why no one took their candidate seriously.

It seems to be a recurring theme with ron paul supporters. They believe the rules of society (naturally, they are anarchists!) don't apply to them, whether it's on the streets or on public forums.
