Hi All, I am a bit new to all these things. So I am not sure if I am right. But I think FeedBurner is for blogs and it sends an email to all members (who subscribed) once a day with latest blog post links. I run a vBulletin forum and I like to use FeedBurner so that visitors of my forum can subscribe and get daily alerts with latest posts in my forum. Is this possible ? Can you please throw some light on this ? (I never used FeedBurner before. So I don't know what are the exact possibilities.)
Yes, you can use feedburner with VBulletin. Here is my feedburner feed for my forum - http://feeds.feedburner.com/SurvivalistForum Feedburner even pulls images and embedded youtube videos.
Lets say I have 2 sections - JAVA & SAP Then can I have my members to subscribe to whatever is relevant to them and send only corresponding emails through FeedBurner ? For example, if a member is interested in JAVA updates only, then he will subscribe to JAVA list of FeedBurner and if some other member is interested in SAP feed, he will subscribe only to SAP feed of FeedBurner (so that they will get only the update mails of whatever section that is relevant to them) ? Is this possible ?
Do you have RSS enabled on your site? If so, you can subscribe to each forum section. Just go into the forum section, click the RSS feed button and select the feed you want to display. Here is a screen shot for you to see what I am talking about.
Yeah sure.. It can be done.. But you have to enable RSS Syndication first on your forum. On your ACP, Go to vBulletin Options > External Data Provider and then "Enable RSS Syndication" Then you have to burn two different RSS feed in your Feedburner's Control Panel. The RSS URLs of your different section will be http://www.forum.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=1 http://www.forum.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=2 Code (markup): Hope that helps..
This does not work, im having blank page there: http://goteen.net/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=1 http://goteen.net/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=2 Autodetected URL is: http://goteen.net/external.php?type=RSS2 Feedburner URL: http://feeds.feedburner.com/goteen/feed (does not contain any topics) Please help?
That's because forums with the id's of 1 or 2 aren't viewable on that domain, they need to be accessible (active) and not hidden from non-members/guests. Take your Help Desk forum for example: http://goteen.net/external.php?type=RSS2&forumid=47 Or if you want multiple forums to feed from then use: http://goteen.net/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=47,27
