Google Webmaster Tools Crawl Rate

Hello, I was just wondering, when does the option to crawl site faster appear? Right now Google says crawl rate isn't a factor so it doesn't let me put the rate faster. Thanks in advance

 

You might want to consider whether bandwidth is a limitation before you use this option. If you update your sites regularly with a lot of changes, it might be a good idea to use this as well. If not it's best to leave this option alone.

 

But it currently doesn't let me use this option, when does it become available?

 

It was always there as an option, just what you think appropriate to your site.

 

Does the faster option will crawl more pages and the site will get better SERP?

 

No it will not improve your SERP and google crawl the updated websites regularly. So if you update your website regularly, google bot will love to crawl your website.

 

It is only sometimes available, Google seem to enable it when they detect your site could benefit with a faster crawl rate.
When it becomes available, it will stay set at the faster rate for 90 days only. then it will switch back to normal.

Just to note, setting a faster crawl rate does not mean Google bot will visit your site more often, or crawl more pages, all it means is that when it crawls, it will crawl your site faster, (Puts more load on your processor and bandwidth)

I have 3 sites set to faster crawl rate at the moment, I have not noticed any differance

The easiest way to get that option visible is to start adding lot of content in your site every day. And very soon the option will be available.

But if you do not add content in your site regularly, then I guess normal crawl speed is ok.
