I know its a tired topic and rather old. But anyone know much about stealing clickbank commissions and such? I'm concerned due to my sales for one certain account I have. Or lack thereof. Example site generally made sales everyday or every other day for weeks, all summer basically. Now, my rankings have improved more, I now have tons of backlinks, and the traffic shows, my traffic has increased substantially. But my sales for this product are literally zero, and have been for a while now. Bottomed out with more traffic? How is that possible? The product is fine and is still converting well for others, and gravity is still high. I understand fluctuations in sales yadda yadda yadda... but statistically this is impossible, making x amount of sales with y amount of traffic, if y increases, so should traffic+revenue, right? I mean, saying it wouldn't goes against all rules of marketing and business. Increase visibility(good quality of course), increase revenue. period. My traffic quality has stayed the same if not improved, as well as increase in numbers. I read a few topics across the web about different forms of clickbank commission theft through spyware, pop up ads, etc.. But these are old methods. My question is, have any of you heard about new ways to redirect affiliate links to another, invisibly, without user or affiliate knowing? I am sure someone figured out a great way to do this, I just want to know how to find it and stop it. I've also noticed many people in this forum complaining about dropped sales. Could clickbank be having tracking or id issues? What are your thoughts? And please don't post that your sales have doubled, increased, blah blah blah.. everytime a reply like that comes up its from a publisher, your amount of merchant or publisher sales is irrelevant to this topic. I know in every market there are people that want to make money without earning it (aka stealing). And to say it doesn't go on today with affiliates would be naive. So, how do you think they are doing this now?
It's simple, just click your affiliate link, click the buy button, and check if your affiliate id is shown at the bottom of the buy page
well obviously thats what people would do but I have read in other forums of people just not getting credited, even though their link shows when their friends or family buys through their page. I am sure someone has figured out a way to go around that and still show your id link. all they would like to do is read all the posts like this with people saying to just click and see your aff id and all is well. which is what I figured too. I was seeing if anyone here knew anything about that
Well if you're selling a Make Money Online product, there's a good chance that the person buying the product know this stuff and will use his hoplink to make the purchase. I haven't had any problems personally, I sell non 'Make Money Online' products. I'm not talking about if your Id link show in the URL box, I'm talking about the buy page Go to the page of the product using the appropriate hoplink and see at the bottom of the page it will say which affiliate takes credit for the purchase, so don't look at the link in the URL box, but look at the bottom of the buy page.
First - the obvious - make sure your links are working, and that your clickbank ID shows up on the purchase page. Next - Do you know where your traffic is coming from? Google is constantly changing their alogrythms. You may have excellent traffic from them for weeks, and then suddenly they are sending you crap traffic. I constantly have fluctuations in my sales - and a majority of my dips in sales come from google changes.
right. right and right. Im not promoting 'make money' products. but I'm also thinking deeper on the subject, not just people putting their aff id in the url, that is an old topic, and I don't think it's that big of a deal. my links are working fine, and my aff id shows on the buy page. traffic is fine, i'm not complaining about that either. its actually much better and targeted. I talking about even though your aff id hows on the buy page, it could get credited to another aff. I'll try to find where I read about this and post the source, people discussing their friends or family buyig through their page, with their aff id on the buy page, but still not getting the commissions. I know that anyone who had that zango toolbar thing had this problem, and any aff id would be be overwritten at the last minute, because of the last aff getting commission policy from clickbank, you would never know. I don't think I'm experiencing this, I'm just looking for information on it from you guys. know what I mean?
What you are suggesting is VERY VERY unlikely.. if your aff link shows at the buy page then the CB software will credit you for it.. impossible for someone to steal your commissions without the suggestions stated above.. The other thing to consider is alot of these sites now do the whole email capture to get something for free etc.. then the customer who you bought to the site decised to subscribe to a 7 day email course or whatever it is.. then some time later buys.. unfortunately you wont get the credit for this more often than not..
Me too think that you became a bit paranoid Try to get visitors from other places (like targeted PPC) just to check if the conversions and tracking are all right!?
I am glad you guys are so confident.... paranoid?, you mean I run a business and care about sales? Absolutely! PPC? are you serious? this is far from my 1st day man...thanks for trying to help though. and I won't promote any clickbank product that has an email capture form on it. c'mon guys..I still think this went over your heads. The point is, if it was done successfully, you wouldn't know. And just because it hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean its not true or can't happen. Honestly, I think many aff marketers are insanely naive to think this doesn't happen. Even the owners of DP are being sued for cookie stuffing now. If you bought something on eBay, and have been to this site, they probably got a commission, by loading a cookie without your knowledge and without you even going to the eBay site. While not the same scenario, This proves my point exactly. If you can make massive money without much honest work, people will do it, just like trying to rob a bank. Someone has a figured out a way to do this. That is all I'm trying to say. I understand is it unlikely, but it would be even more unlikely for you to actually find out about it. I feel like a democrat trying to sell fresh ideas to a republican...and getting a no, no that can't happen.
