Zero Yahoo Traffic

For one of my sites, when it comes to search engine traffic, 98% comes from Google, 2% comes from MSN and other search engines, but I don't get a single hit from Yahoo.

My site is not banned in yahoo, in fact, there are lots of pages indexed.

Obviously the search engines use different algorhythms to rank sites, but can yahoo be so different then google.

After all, I have lots of backlinks, good keywords, what would prevent yahoo from sending hits?

Yahoo is slow to update their SERP's unlike Google and the big copycat of Google which is MSN, you should wait up to 6 months the most to see your site on top, I have experiences with blogs ranking fast as 2 weeks in Yahoo and sites in less than a month, but on average Yahoo stabilizes into the second search engine traffic maker after half way through the year

Yahoo is a little slow, but I have had no problems getting sites ranked in a short period of time. It just depends on how good your incoming links are. For Yahoo you also need to watch all the onpage factors too.

Can be very useful to determine what KW combination is showing up most relevantly in backlinks. Wish I could help more but I've always had a tough time ranking highly in Yahoo and MSN. Using Google standards, I should be dominating but clearly they are favoring other factors.

It depends on your niche obviously but Yahoo is 1/10 the traffic of Google in most of the cases.
I rank equally well in Yahoo and Google and still Yahoo can't drive a decent amount of visitors.

i agree, i would just worry about google and maybe msn, since u are getting like 2% from them. i see no reason why anyone would use anything alse except for google.

It also depends where you are situated and where your visitors come from.

Here in Germany for example, more than 90% are using Google. I think in the US it´s less. Something around 75%. But I am not exactly sure about that.

Oh! ist 1/10. I thought Yahoo (formerly Overture) was 1/3. Wow, that was a big change.

Some of my clients get a third of their traffic from Yahoo, it just depends upon the target demographic. If you use a tool like Keyword Directory it will show you where your target market searches as well as the keywords thay use..

I can tell you my experience with niches in the insurance field - a high percentage of them use Yahoo and MSN search engines rather than Google. You ignore the market demographics at your peril!

You didn't mentioned your ranking in Yahoo. Anyway who cares when you are getting traffic. Unless you have top rankings in yahoo you cannot expect much also. Majority of the internet users use Google and if your site is ranking well in Google then you are bound to get good amount of Hit. Infact people go to yahoo.com by typing Yahoo in Google. So you can expect the popularity of Google.

Yahoo ranking depend on your back links , Age of your sites and keyword relevency..Try to add your keywords in meta tag and then write articles anywhere with that keyword...Your yahoo ranking will improve dramatically

Maybe Yahoo wants you to buy Yahoo directory. Some said it made significant effect.
