Only 1 backlink and #1 on Google - HOW?

I've a site I've been working on for a while some time now, it bounces between page 1 and page 2 of Google.

To give you some background, I created the site 2 years ago and left it, listing it only a few directories. Then to increase traffic, this year I decided to write some articles and pay for directory submissions on DP, building my backlinks. This started in May 08 and I am seeing the new pages I added in July show up for their main keyword in #1 spot on Google . However the main keyword for the site "pc enclosures" I'm on page 2.

My competition own 3 urls all above me and it seems that I've built more backlinks to my site than them. My sites PR1 (recnet update) and their sites are PR3.

How can I improve my SERPS to get to page 1.

Because Digg is ever-changing, Google crawls it very frequently.

You'll probably drop out (close to completely) in a couple of weeks once the initial 'new-site' boost wears off, unless there's absolutely no competition.

Competition is low and not quality one. It's one of those new fall TV shows. I know I will drop but until then my site will be much more better, it's not a rubbish site

Make sure your site is posted on the Social sites - stumbleupon, etc. It doesn't take much time to do it. Get more quality inbound links (one way is best).

    Checkout neurolinker.org.

Blog and ping is still effective.

As everyone on this distinguished would know, a brand new website may rank high or reach to the top on Google but soon will be subjective to a phenomenon called Google sandbox. Almost every new website, barring a few exceptions is placed in the sandbox and comes out of it after some time. This has been termed as a sort of aging filter that Google uses to verify the credibility of websites.

Write more quality articles and submit them to article directories. Generate more one way links by blog comments, forum posting and social bookmarking. You can also try to join social sites and promote your site to gain more traffic. You can try to create quality blogs and put a link back to your main site.

Have you looked into improving your internal link structure of your website other than concentrating on external links alone? Get more contents up related to the keyword that you are aiming and try to link it together.
