Good catch. I went and checked and found my Yahoo backlink count had dropped by about 5,000. Reasons? Hard to tell, and I doubt Yahoo will reveal them. My gut feeling is that Yahoo could be: • Discounting forum signature links. • Or perhaps cleaning out old links from now-defunct, quick-buck directories. But those are just guesses.
I didn't noticed anything as my backlinks increased/decreased normally .... I don't know what do you mean by the update... as it update everyday .. lol..
Yeah. There was a huge drop in the number of backlinks for many of my sites and the reduction was almost one third of the total numbers. Yahoo started following the google trend while counting the number of backlinks?
Daily updates are minor swings. In this update I dropped 5,000 Yahoo links. Not normal; this was a major backlink change.
Yahoo Get Very Fast Backlinks and Google is Very Long Time Give backlinks But Google Backlink is very Quality Backlinks.
Yeah, that are the reasons perhaps. Or they might be ignoring nofollow links now. So, since Yahoo is taking backlinks this serious, can we expect a Google PR link thing from them?
My links have not changed. They have actually went up by 7, but that is nothing significant enough to report.
Yea Abhik, this was a major updation of Yahoo site Explorer. but need to check about the Nofollow links if they are ignoring to explorer in our external links? I think, they should display our all the Dofollow/nofollow links so we can get all the ideas atleast from Yahoo site explorer. Thanks Eric
I've noticed that the backlinks totals seem to have changed for some sites but not all. Any other solutions besides using Yahoo to check backlinks (not Google webmaster tools)? Thanks db
On of my sites completely tanked in Y! while staying strong in MSN and G in August. The site is an authority site with lots of content and several competitive #1 placements in G. I've heard several similar stories over at Webmaster world, and it seems to come from an update in early August: http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000610.html. Anyone else experience this?
Same here DiscoStu - from page 1 to page 6. Happened around Aug 24 for me. At or around the same time, my website rose in both Google and Live. I'm now in a 'wait and see' holding pattern (aka scratching my head and wondering wtf?)
Sorry... What peeves me more is that one of the web design firms I point out as being an seo black-hatter in my recent blog post is now #1 in Yahoo! <---end of rant--->
