What do you guys think of Google Chrome?

I think it's awesome, I love the design, it's super fast (but lets hope it's not like Safari and has countless backdoors), the download manager is epic...

Only thing it doesn't have is the middle click scroll thing, but I'm hoping they will include that in the next release :D Along with add-ons and different themes of course :)

Actually it just shocked me when I saw the download link on the google search page. How can a company like google go the microsoft way ??

Google has always promoted open source and has effectively worked for the promotion of firefox. Now it seems that it used firefox like a goat trap, to catch the big lion ( The overall browser market).

Eventually google will get all hold on user statistics making it the net superpower monopoly. Also google is known for making people agree to terms and spy on them with legal rights. So its a dangerous development not at par with the rules of open and free market where competition should be welcomed. Google should have stuck to its basics of promoting firefox forever. This also hurts millions of spread firefox members around the world.

Am I downloading and testing the chrome? Yes, bcos I need to check how bad they can be

    UPDATE:

Downloaded and tested the chrome ! lol, I just laughed at it.

Anybody can make a better one in VB than this, lol. Its just 2 % of what firefox is regarding features and as far as speed is concerned, its much slower than the firefox 2 :)). Check for yourself !!

Yea, that's wrong. Honestly, on both my comps, it ate away at speeds of both 2 & 3 of firefox, opera, ie, and safari. Features, not so much, I hope to see improvements over time. I am skeptical of Google's policies though, they are some I don't trust in the long run.

Thats because google has helped firefox in the past and now uses the same for its own browser. Very much understandable :)

Regarding speed, its slow in India. So would welcome views from other indians.

I agree, it's pretty useless in comparison to what i'm currently using and yes it's slower. I do have Firefox's cache saving to a virtual RAM Disk, but if i put it back to the HD the speeds would still be comparable.

A simple browser for 'simple' people i guess.

Chrome seems much much faster than Firefox 2 and 3 at rendering pages. It's the fastest browser I've ever used.

It has a bunch of features Firefox doesn't have (tab tearing, separated tab processes) and some that Firefox does (awesomebar, open source [not really a feature but w/e]) and some from other browsers (incognito mode [ie 8], speed dial [opera]).

I hope it will have plugins.. but if not I'd be fine. The browser is awesome, and the only thing I'm missing is AdBlock. Which really doesn't matter to me as much anymore since I haven't seen an intrusive (annoying with noise) ad recently.

    And you're being extremely paranoid.

    Especially on IE!:D

Chrome is really fast though, I'm impressed with the speed...not sure about the rest though.

That's because of the separate processes for each tab. It eats up more memory initially, but it handles its memory much more efficiently than Firefox, so while you may see Firefox getting slower after using it for a long period of time, you won't with Chrome.

I tried Chrome and for me it was laughable at best. Sure it's fast, because it has almost ZERO functionality other than simply rendering a webpage. Maybe Google is targeting people with 10 year old PCs who don't browse very much. Anyway, don't think it will be of much use to the crowd here.

This "Most visited" and "Recently closed tabs" is not good if you watch too much porn. Image if you forget to clear browsing data? :D
