I love FF too but I have to admit I rolled back from FF3 to FF2. However, I'm super happy with FF2 so no harm done.

I don't think they can break the grip hold of IE and Firefox, at most Google browser will be one of those fringe browsers. Firefox already had a had time regaining their share that was lost to IE.

Google cares about delivering the most targeted ads to users in order to generate revenue more than anything else, so the motive behind Chrome is money.

It just so happens by having relevant search results they capture a target audience, which ties back in to the advertising and money factor.

Do not use google browser if you care little about your privacy, do not forget that google is an advertisement company , to increase advertisement revenue it can do whatever it wants, what as a search engine it could not do was to look at the data which is in your computer now , with their browser they can achieve that , how would you like that google automatically takes money from your bank account when your adword balance goes low ?
Someone should install a packet data sniffer to find out what kind of data is the google browser sending back to google from your PC .

IMO, it won't be better than FF3.. So, no SERP changes only for this.

It is another open source browser and allow user to add plugins.
With direct monitoring, Google should definitely know the more accurate data.

No, IE won't be killed so easily.
Google Chrome will become the third most common browsers
