The new version of the DP (and other forums) writer directory is complete!

When you visit www.ewriterworld.com you’ll be redirected to the latest and greatest version including a large number of new profiles you haven’t been seeing while we've been updating.

I’d love to hear comments and questions on the new design and any feedback about the new process to add your profile.

If you want to join up, and hopefully everyone does, the process is even easier. The steps are outlined here.

Those with new profiles, please let me know if you have comments or questions on yours. You can reach me through the site (rebecca @ ewriterworld.com) or via PM

    Thanks!
    Rebecca

    Looks nice. :)

The one thing I'd suggest is adding the other pricing info. The 500-word article thing really doesn't say much for a lot of writers (we're not all primarily content writers, and things like press release writing, copywriting, etc. can't be judged by that). :(

You're right about that. I'll look at a way to include that information without making the profiles less uniform. The uniformity was designed intentionally, but I can always modify that field on a post. Maybe I'll get Mike to add an almost duplicate field that will be optional for "Typical Price per Hour, Release, Page, Word, etc..." Then writers can choose the one that works for them and have both listed in the profile.

Do you think that would cover that particular area? One optional field or two - two would give you three pricing options to reflect three niches, I guess....thoughts?

    This looks really good. Well-done.
    I have two questions:
    1) Will the writers be juried?
    2) Will other categories show up as new writers register?

I've bookmarked the site, but want to get my website up and running first. It's my first website and I'm clueless, so lots of work.

    Good luck with this.

I'm not sure what you mean by "juried." If you meet the criteria, which is simply - are you a writer and do you have something that proves you wrote it (i.e. byline or your own site), you're in. I'm not ranking writers by anything - it's first come, first serve. There are many markets and many ranges of rates, styles and abilities to fit those markets.

Yes, there are plenty of categories I brainstormed that haven't even been touched yet that will show up when used. And to be quite honest, there are some categories I never even considered using, but someone specializes in it, so it's there! Whatever you do, I can make a spot for it (assuming it's not illegal, of course.)

You're the fourth or fifth person who seems to be inspired to work on their site of late. Mine is desparately in need of work, but it will just have to wait a bit longer (or a lot longer, really. LOL)

Let me know when you're ready, and I'll get you up there. Your profile can always be modified as you build new sites or want to change samples.

I like the move to a new CMS, but the layout seems corporate and cold. Also to get to the actual listing of authors (Which is the point of this website- correct?) you have to really look for it. Maybe it's just me needing some sleep, but nothing seemed to really jump out at me and tell me what the website was all about.

You can still remain sophisticated in design and have a flashier layout. So far so good, at least you're making progress!

Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to look into style elements and possibly a new template to spice things up. As we continue to build the site, it will continue to grow and change. I think for sure I need to emphasize the directory as you mentioned. That wasn't a part of the original site so tweaks to the content didn't really bring it forth very well.

I'd love your input on what you think might call attention to the directory itself.

The new look is awesome! Good job Mike! :)

If you could make the graphic clickable and linked to the writer directory that would be very helpful in getting to the directory quicker.

Also, not sure if it's supposed to be like this or not, but I couldn't figure out how to get an alphabetical listing of writers. That would be a great addition.

I think having three pricing options to correspond with the three niches they choose would be an excellent idea. :)

And on a side note, I love the color scheme - don't get the overly "corporate" vibe at all. If anything it says to me that it's a professional site targeting professional webmasters or other buyers who are looking for serious writers and not run-of-the-mill services.

I passed these along to my tech department, but he's out being the emergency milk run department at the moment - LOL Actually he's working on his own sites tonight, but says he'll get to in a day or two to find some solutions discussed here.

The three fields should be pretty easy. One would be mandatory as that is the basis of the site - side by side comparisons, but the others would be optional.

Also, there was a private question about the "two week deadline" for profiles. That was a mistake on my part in my wording perhaps - there is NO deadline, you can submit a profile any time. I just plan to do a lukewarm, or maybe a pink hot, release shortly alerting many webmasters to the site's presence. :)
