Well i'm having a campaign running these days. My ad group has 3% average CTR. It contains a 2 word keyword and some variations of it. Let's say it's blue widgets. blue widgets ** 0.30 - 15th position :S blue widget ** 0.20 - 6th position widget blue ** 0.20 - 6th position bluewidgets ** 0.20 - 6th position Any suggestions to improve the blue widgets keyword position ?
It's Poor for blue widgets and OK for the rest ones. So basically you suggest to add more ad variations & increase the BID right?
No you don't need to increase your bid,you can solve that problem without increasing your CPC and spending more money.Just ad more ad variations and then test them all to see which ad variation will get the highest CTR and then only use your best performing ad. With a better CTR you can also maybe change your QS to great or OK. A better QS and a better CTR means cheaper clicks. Go to your google adwords account and look why your QS is just poor and what google recommends you to do to improve it. You can find that by driving your mouse over the magnifier that is just next to your keywords in your campaign.
I also have the same problem and the Magnifier window doesn't suggest anything and recommends to delete the keyword Question- Can using Exact match for that keyword help
Keyword Relevance This keyword isn't highly relevant. Based on the keyword's relevance to the associated ad text, CTR, historical keyword usage, and other performance factors. Landing Page Help No problems found. Landing Page Load Time Help No problems found.
How many keywords do you have in one adgroup? If you have to much(over 20) it is not strange that your keyword relevance isn't ok. It says that the keyword is not relevant, that is only for that one keyword that has poor QS or...?
I think it can because you will have a better CTR with a exact match keyword. Actually broad match is only for discovering new keywords,I only use exact match in my campaigns. Some phrase but not much.
Is your adcopy relevant to the keywords and landing page? So if you have "blue widgets"keyword variations that 2 word phrase must also appear in the adcopy.
you need to increase your CTR... on all of the keywords Write better text ads, keep testing new ones till QS goes to great
Yes, create a campaign - exact and for keywords that get 'enough' impressions, stick them into their own adgroup. Have 2 ads split testing and include the keyword in question, at least once (better 2 maybe 3 times). This should have your ads be more targetted to each keyword and including the keyword in the ad, will help the CTR which goes to improving the QS. However, the CTR / QS isn't the most important thing - I often drop ads with a higher CTR because other ads, with a lower CTR is converting better. You can have a 'poor' QS with a high min bid, yet it's still converting well and proving more profitable than using ads that may well put your QS to 'ok'.
