A more natural way is to focus on link baiting by having good quality contents so that other will naturally quote and then link back to your site.

Hi, I just found an interesting site regarding backlinks called Traffic Marks at trafficmarks. Traffic Marks does a lookup on the top sites for a keyword and then lists the sites that link to those top sites. Give it a shot. I put a comment on their blog about traffic marks and nofollow.
Yeahh as all above said. these are best options. but yeahh dofollow social bookmarking is also a good way to get backlinks. Search for this in google : "powered by pligg" or "powered by PHPdug" Good luck.
Lots of help already. Link baiting is the best but most difficult and can take a lot of time. Best way to start is in forum sigs and blogs. Also paying someone to manually submit to directories can be worth the effort.
