for submit? (depends of the directory's performance to review submissions in a correct way) for browsing? (probably dmoz, unless you are looking for fresh content or certain banned topics there ) for have a link there? (depends of your purpose, to improve your PR (high pr directories), to improve your serps for certain keywords, niche directories related to your website's topic... I think)
I suggest you submit to DMOZ since you DONT want to pay for a review/backlink or whatever, But i wouldnt hold my breath thinking your site will be included anytime soon laterz malcolm
Its page rank is high and it gets alot of people on it, which can drive traffic to your site and give you a great backlink. --sean
