I know this is probably a dumb question, but I don't the for letter domains thing. Are all 4 letter .coms worth registering or just certain ones?

anything can be good and profitable. Just make sure it has a catching buzz to it.

I would assume r2d2.com would be a good four letter domain.

    =)

Sorry, I just wanted to bring this up one more time, because I see all these getting bids and they don't seem to mean anything.

    2fz
    wobu
    ughb
    ufiz
    uehp
    ndsc
    uuun

    and they're not all .com

Okay, I'll have a go. Firstly, there's no such thing as a 'dumb question' it's the answers to be weary of.

The above, at the moment, means nothing to me, but in a niche market they could be acronyms and therefore mean something to that market. Dot coms are preferred of course; in my opinion.

You can never predict the way the demand for a particular domain changes. What may appear as a mere stone to some may seem diamond to others.

Regarding 4L .coms not all are worth the money asked for. Its better to buy a pronounceable 4L name even if it has a q rather than buy premium letters which you cannot co relate. If you check sedo.com you will see that the pronounceable ones which end in 'o' or 'e' sell for the highest price.

A lot of members here had these names stolen by a scammer on DP. So if you have a valuable name ensure that you safeguard it and sell it to reliable buyers only.

Great. I guess the 3 letter ones are even better. Anyway, thanks for the comments.

Investing with with hype is a dangerous strategy. Buy because the domain name makes sense and has a target market and audience that it could be developed for or sold to.

I liked the look of onxe up there ^

My contribution to the thread: surely all 4-letter domains are taken? Are you actually talking about registering a new one here, or buying an old one?

I agree to a certain extent. You could have a domain that does not seem to have a catching buzz and yet you manage to make it popular. The catching buzz could be created on a later stage if you manage to implement a strategic promotion and marketing.

This is a part from the product branding process.

The r2d2.com example was a good one, unfortunately the domain is not available as of now...

    ;)
