I recently began link building for my site Hardgainer Online. I am currently trying to rank highly on Google for the single search term: hardgainer. My site is relatively new. I basically got an automatic bid to page 3 of Google for the term hardgainer right when I began my site. I began link building yesterday and woke up this morning to find that I was on page 2 of Google. Is this because of the link building?
A pretty decent amount. I believe around 200 to 300 a day. I used Google Insights. I took one of my sites search terms which receives about 200 views a day and then I compared the graph with the term hardgainer to determine an estimated amount of traffic. We'll see how accurate this plays out to be. It's kind of experimental. But I do believe it's about correct.
So if I build a link building plan. Say 10 do follow comments (in my niche) 1 articles submission 10 directory submissions 5 social bookmarking submissions and 1 press release submission every single day, I could eventually get on page one of google?
For this keyword doing this would be enough to get you on top3 relatively quickly. Try to get a few high PR links from related bodybuilding pages.
Thanks for the confidence JohnSON. 1) How do you know I could get to the top so easily? 2) Any tips on gaining high quality back links from related BodyBuilding pages?
1) Because "hardgainer" is not a competitive keyword. Analyze your top3 competitors backlinks and on page SEO (PR flow, titles, content, inner linking...) . For backlinks you can use yahoo site explorer which is free. 2) You could buy sponsored wordpress themes, or buy footer/sitewide/incontent links from related website. You can find authority websites where you can leave your link (probably in a comment), analyze all their indexed pages and then find high PR pages, where you insert a link.
Link building is a proven way to increase your rank in the serps. Your strategy looks to be a good one
Two things that really are important in ranking good in google are backlinks and content. Backlinks always help to improve SERPs.
Backlinks do help in improving your SERP especially when the targeted keyword is placed as your anchor text
Link building does has its benefit...but the most important contributor to SERP is actually your content itself with the right keywords. The temporary boost in ranking which you are seeing now could be Google preferences towards new submitted sites or pages.
make sure the back links have anchor text to them, this will help with the keyword you are trying to rank high on
