What are my options?

I couldn't find the computers/technology sub-forum anywhere (probably because I am super-tense and absolutely off the wall ready to go crazy).

I have a labtop I bought from HP and for some apparent reason it will not start up anymore. I have a feeling that the motherboard may have crashed and if this is the case what is the best way to approach this problem?

I can't afford another desktop/notebook, I'm not really sure what I should do. Every time I start the computer I get a black screen, if you guys could help me out with any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.

Does it beep at all, or show any kind of error message?

Dear Go to HP.com or google there official site and you can get online support there.

I also have a note book had problem in locating its drivers. Got the online help and was able to do it.

Nope nothing at all. It's just a black screen of death staring back at my bloodshot eyes.
It does but they seem to charge me or they want money for this which is why I came here before resorting to my last option maybe trying to figure out how screwed I am.

Ok I was thinking maybe CMOS battery if it was fairly old.

So you say it turns on, but displays a black screen? Or does it not turn on at all?

It turns on but there is no interaction afterwards, it's just a plain black screen stuck in dos not initializing anything just there. The power button says its on but it just stares at me like I've ripped out it's OS from it's memory (or where ever the hell an OS is).
