Hi there,I found this question when I was searching for an answer for the same question Any opinions? "Commission Junction and linkshare affiliate networks give code to place on your website in order to promote their merchants. This code usually consists of 3 parts. 1) link to product page 2) link to product image 3) link to image which is 1 pixel in width and 1 pixel in height. Is it ok to use only the 1) (link to product page) by omitting the 2) and 3)? I don't want to paste the exact code that Commission Junction and linkshare supports on my website because the banners or text links may be blocked by antivirus software. So I just use a javascript redirect to redirect visitors directly to 1) (link to product page) and not using the 2) and 3) links. Is that ok and won't I lose commissions for doing that? "
I have done that on CJ, everything was the same and I got paid for the leads BUT I am not sure this is legal, I think the best way is to contact the advertiser and ask, one may say its ok while the other one may not like it, so ask them if you can use the link only. The problem is that most advertisers on CJ are sleeping... they don't reply. Good luck.
I found out that linkshare is ok with removing the 1x1 link. But for CJ I couldnt find anything in their FAQ! I found an old post of one of CJ's staff. He was stressing that the sales will not be tracked if you remove the 1x1!I guess they probably changed their tracking way if you say that your sales are being tracked well. Thanks for your input hopefully we will hear more opinions.
Honestly my friend I am so tired with cj, I just don't like their tracking, its not real time and I have heard many but many complains about sales/leads not getting credited, also advertisers don't reply most of the time, applications stay pending for months and years, etc so I suggest you to try shareasale, I am just starting with them and they look ok, real time reporting, they tell us when the companies are having problems with payment, low funds or that they are offline, etc. If you are not working with them then try it out! There you can use just the affiliate link without images. http://www.shareasale.com/ They have many programs, sales + leads, ppc too Bye
What does it mean Linkshare is okay without the 1X1? That they are okay without crediting us for sales? Or that we get credit but not precise stats? What I would like is a straight answer about whether I get a sale if I don't have the 1X1...what does it mean that it won't be tracked? How can I be credited if the sale isn't tracked?
For Linkshare, it is OK but you could not get impression stastic data. For CJ.com, it is also OK. Actually I always only use this link for EVERY affiliate network.
They do not mind you removin the 1x1 which is used to track the impressions but not the sales.so your sales tracking should be fine but you might have more sales than impressions. However, they stress on the fact that you will not be paid for impression bonuses. Bonus4you thats great news..How long have you been doin that with Cj links? ANy more opinions or experiences?
For most of my sites i am using the code as it is inclusive of ( No cloaking or redirect). But in one of my site i am using php redirect( using links like this http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-1234567-12345678) NO 1x1 image. In Stats it is showing 0 impression and 15 clicks so if any one would buy from this link count as sales ? if yes is it legal and ok according to their TOS. Because i dont wana get my account banned after making money .
