I have a domain name already registered at GoDaddy. How does the process work for hosting a site when you have the domain name registered elsewhere? I'm very new to this and I'd appreciate any help PS: Is NearlyFreeSpeech.NET good for hosting? I expect my website to get a very small amount of visitors right now and I'm not hosting much. Please don't advertise your own hosting company or affiliate! Thanks.
I'm NOT advertising But I'm hosted with TMZHosting.com .. and They are THE BEST of what I tested. when you buy a hosting package .. you will receive (Name Servers) which will be placed in your domain control panel .. Search for (Modify/Edit Name Servers )
"Going to start hosting for the first time, have questions.." Yeah, don't bother. A) The market is over saturated with kids/resellers B) If anyone really cares for their online business, they will choose a reputable company. KP
Good point!! Might help if I read the thread fully But them two tips will help. Choose a reputable company if you plan on actually making it something. KP
I second that.. Make sure you read MANY reviews about your host before purchasing .. Many Scammers outhere, Less Reputable People.
When you sign up at your new web hosting company, you will be supplied with two nameservers. (normally two, sometimes 3 or 4) You will then want to take those nameservers, login at GoDaddy and update the assigned nameservers there. After the DNS is updated, your domain will become fully function within 24-72 hours due to propagation.
Host with my host, anionshost.com and get a -78$ discount for the first 1.618 months! Offer valid till my donkey stops sneezing!
Do I have to 'transfer' my domain name? Or can my site be hosted by NearlyFreeSpeech and the domain name be registered at GoDaddy?
No, No need to transfer anything MCJ You can have a domain registered at a website and have the hosting at another website
