The OP No tears in west No tears will be shed except by the people that know them. The terrorist in Afghanistan will not shed a tear. Did you shed a tear?
Not sure what part of: You're missing, bro. Yes, I do feel the pain of innocents caused by this, or any war.
In this instance, no, but I didn't read the article. It is to the concept of innocent lives lost that I speak. I certainly have regularly wept on viewing other images, or reading other stories. I weep, because I sincerely, closely, feel their pain. It's the same welling of common life with another that has led me, in the past, to see a homeless guy lying literally in the street, looking, to me, like he was hoping merely to get hit; to pull him to the curb and to safety, to hold him to me, while he cried out his pain, and knowing his pain was mine, my circumstances notwithstanding; to seeing a bug struggling across the sidewalk, trying to make it to sweet grass, and to help it to a fighting chance. I do not intend for this to sound maudlin, and I'm genuinely sorry if this is not something you can understand, but it isn't contrived, or elicited - it is an automatic response on my part, cultivated, If I can make my best guess, by the chasm between my highest hopes for our species, and what has been done by us, to us, over the millenia of our time.
@`northpointaiki I do not rejoice in the fact that innocent life is lost even though I am made out to be a villain in the forums often. I may not be as smart as you or the others but my sense of duty and American pride runs deep. I will not mock our soldiers or call them baby names.(I realize you do not either). I will not jump on the Anti-American Anti-Government band wagon like hippies from the sixties and seventies following the Grateful Dead either. @ NiceDeals Don't think for a second that some of the women and Children in Afghanistan are not armed and bomb strapped. Just ask your countries veterans that have returned.
Homebiz, I hope I'm not making you out to be anything. I long ago learned that most people want the best things, and we just disagree on how to get there. I hope I am going on what you write, and responding in good faith. I find the notion - that innocent life lost, so long as it's not our family, is unworthy of our compassion - well, I find this deeply, deeply wrong, and this is what I concluded from what you have written. I'm a vet, and I won't mock our service people either, as you kindly noted. Knowing what they do, knowing the impact of their loss on their families, I believe it is the Commander in Chief's highest duty to treat each of them with utmost care; to never send them into harm's way without knowing why, for what purpose, with an eye to making sure we're in the right fight, and with an eye to achieving whatever is necessary (and only necessary), to our national interest, at the lowest cost in lives. I condemn this administration utterly for failing on every one of these criterion. To demand this from our leadership is, to me, part of what it means to be an American.
Times will change. Those bombing innocents with impunity, without any remorse, will know what it feels like to be bombed. When entire countries are bombed, innocent lives are lost, families destroyed, millions turned to refugees. These people doing the bombing should know, it is not a video game. War hurts real people. And they should get to taste it too, this destruction, this pain... Then maybe, they'll be more careful...
@gauharjk Have you ever been in a town that was being bombed regardless if you were the target or the one painting the target?
Stop playing the anti-american card, America does have faults, especially being the most powerful (at the moment) country your going to make probably more than those who have less influence on the world. Im just getting sick of you saying people are anti-american when really its shit that your country created and unfortunately countries like UK have followed and supported you.
That's normal thinking for cons, neocons .... and idiots. When people other than their own die they celebrate with the devil together.
Why, if you understand the horrors of war, would you wish it on anyone? You belie your own point with your explicitly stated desire for others to suffer. You have made yourself very clear, but please feel free to try and explain how your desire for others to suffer squares with what you have said. I am curious how the murder of other innocents will be justified. And I am curious how, with your thoughts about how the US is run, you think killing innocents will change the decisions made.
I missed this and Gauharjk, I agree with Browntwn's comment. Your sentiment: Effectively says I should feel "it," my neighbor, others. We all need to drop the hatred, everywhere, and always. I can't believe you meant innocent American lives need to be destroyed, in order to effect the world you talk about - do you?
I don't want to hate anyone, I don't want to see people killed, anywhere. But American pilots and their commanders don't think twice before dropping thosands of pounds of explosives on poor women and children in Iraw and Afghanistan. Why? Because they have a different skin colour? Talk a different language? Dress up differently? or pray to a different God? Why are innocent people being killed? Maybe its because these people have become insensitive. Afghans are not human, they are Taliban. Iraqis are not human, they are Hajis. Are we all demons or sub-humans? When will people realize the horrors of war? Only if they know first-hand what is means... Look at these political pundits who openly call for destruction of Islamic societies. What whould you say to such people? These people sit in the comfort of their homes, openly hailing the killing and destruction, as if its just a video game... I don't want innocents to be hurt or killed, anywhere.
There is no reason why innocents are dying except inveitable mistakes and sometimes just pure ignorance by soldiers that happens in war. No one wants innocents to be killed, those who do want the war on terror just want terrorists to die or be captured. So lets just get this straight, the people who declared war on terror aren't trying to kill innocents, they know the targets but unfortunately innocents have died due to the nature of war.
People are dying and suffering everywhere and everybody knows that. Instead of worrying and complaining about what's happening in Iraq or America or wherever, it's better to begin from home, do good and improve what you can. No man can shed tears for all the people killed and being killed even now everywhere and it is pointless to do so. Let's instead try to change the modes of thought and action that lead to such unfortunate events instead of crying, complaining and pointing fingers.
yes we are all sub humans until we have the technology to defend ourselves... its called farming...sure theres a vegetarian here and there whos heart bleeds for your suffering but, in general, you are just a farm animal there for the slaughter ...like an american indian or a negro from africa...its in their culture and most of them see it as a brave and proud history...maybe this is why they invade other countries so much its completely normal for them to bully/exploit the weak... its a very simple like a scale in the market...on one side you have the lives and futures of 3rd world people...on the other side of the scale you have american national "pride" and self justification...your life will never be more important to them than their pride... "no tears shall be shed for collateral damage" is a very very clear message = your life means nothing...
Um, a few morons don't make a nation. There are bad people everywhere. Try not to judge a nation by a vocal negative few. Learn to look for the good. Every nation has good and bad people.
no thanks ill judge the ones who come with bombs and guns...the rest mean nothing to me because i truly mean nothing to them nor will i ever have contact with them being that i would never travel to the USA ever... your country punishes everybody good and bad so i see no reason to discriminate either...when i see mass demonstrations in the USA against all the war and bullshit maybe ill change my mind...but until then i wont go looking for some "alternate reality" and try to find a pretty side to your bombs...
