So I'm running a campaign for a zip submit... I picked about 80 keywords that I was certain would draw interested people, but no one is clicking! Anyone have any pointers? I'd even be willing to share the specifics with someone over PM if anyone wants to help out.
The keywords I'm targeting actually have very LOW competition. Some of them have lots of daily searches (according to gtrends) and no advertisers when I google them. I am also having my ad shown on the content network which probably accounts for the high # of imps. I'm linking directly to the offer URL through a cloaked URL on my domain... Some of my keywords seem to be getting a good rank, but the more popular ones are a bit weaker. One thing though is that I'm not targeting keywords explicitly related to the offer, but they are certainly in the same "niche" so to speak.
Why do so many people post threads like this? Obviously, it's YOU doing something wrong if no one is clicking. There are only a few factors that would make them not click - FIGURE IT OUT YOURSELF, or read through the millions of other threads like this.
Yeah he is obviously doing something wrong, but where is the problem if he needs help? Aren't threads and this whole forum for sharing experiences and helping each other?
Are you using broad match keywords? I am asking because I think that only with broad matching keywords you can have that low CTR,actually no CTR at all. What are you actually offering?
Brandon - I really don't see how my question was flame worthy in the slightest... Having said that, ofcourse it's something IM doing wrong, which is why I asked for help. Michael... I'm trying to push a "Free Grocery Coupon" and I'm targeting recipe keywords on the content network, because I figure people who cook need groceries. I made the very armature mistake of trying to link directly to the offer by redirecting my landing URL to it and because of this google paused the ad due to this being against their rules... hence the no clicks - I guess I wasn't paying enough attention. I'm going to resume experimenting tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to post an update about finally getting some clicks. I also got an idea for a whole new keyword group to target that should reach a crowd that's a bit more desperate fr grocery coupons.
The problem is that there are MANY, maybe even HUNDREDS of threads with this exact title here. All he has to do is quickly search and read the replies to that. Simple.
He could read something similar in other threads. But I don't think he would find the solution for his problem because this is not an average question like "What is quality score?" or "How to improve CTR?". This question is a bit more specific.
How many impressions have these keywords had so far? - I'd stroke my chin and squint at the screen after 150+ impressions, but then again it also needs to be asked ... What's your average position for these keywords? - if it's something like 25th that could be 1 reason for no clicks. Another could be your ads need improving. Edit: I too had it in my head that you were on the search network.
Sorry,I thought that you are using search network, actually now I am not surprised that you got so many impressions and not a single click. I have never used the content network but I heard that there is real low average CTR something like 0.1%-1.0%.So if you get 1000 impressions and only one single click that is not a bit strange. You have to target more keywords to start getting some clicks.
No,he is using the content network that is the reason he is getting so much impressions and not a single click, actually there is not any problem because that is normal(average) for the content network. That can not happen because he wouldn't get any impressions if he is 25th. Maybe a few if someone was browsing the sponsored ads section. He definitely needs ads improving because a 0.00 CTR is way to low even for the content network.
I'd already edited as I'd realised he was talking re: Content Network. And yes he would get impressions if he was 25th, if the keyword was popular enough. Whether it's a problem or not is down to the amount of impressions he's had.
Ok,I also thought that he was using only search network. No hard feelings we are just talking. Only if 15,of the first 25 ads, stop displaying at the same time.I don't see a other way. If you know another way please explain me.
You will, as others have said, run up a lot more impressions without clicks on the content network than search (one reason why it's always a good idea to separate these out into different camapigns, so you can see the 2 campaigns clearly and make adjustments) A couple of things - firstly - for content ,keywords are used to ascertain a theme, rather than just being taken individually to place your ads, so think about that when compiling your keywords for 'content' Another thing - run a placement report to see where your ads are - if it's in entirely inappropriate places, just block those sites, and have another look at your keyword list and think about why your ads are being shown on those sites. Also - you might be better off not doing 'content' at all, but instead doing the ads as a placement campaign, and choosing what sites you want them on.
Hi guys, Thanks for your thoughts! I'm actually using both content & search. The avg position the keywords were getting was actually something like 4-8. And to answer your question Muchacho, I was getting like 1k Imps every 15 minutes or so, but the campaign ended up being paused by google for not being compliant with their rules... I'm off to play with it now and make it work!
