Yeah congrats McCain. you just picked the worst possible most unqualified VP in the history of our nation to try to gain a handful of Hillary voters.

    Country first! :D

P.S.: Joe Biden is going to wipe the floor with her when they debate.

Gov. Sarah Palin: Midnight runs and caribou dinners

"Conventional running is my sanity," Gov. Palin says. Having recently given birth to her fifth child, the governor is trying to get back to her old workout routine. She was running 7 to 10 miles almost every day but switched to aerobics classes at her gym when she became pregnant. She has worked her way back up to running three miles every other day.

In the summer, when it's always light, she'll sometimes run as late as midnight. In the dead of winter, when it's dark, she sneaks in an afternoon run, or else grudgingly runs on the treadmill at home or at the gym in the evening. Gov. Palin keeps dumbbells at home, but she says most of her upper body strength comes from snowmobiling with her family. "It's the best upper body workout you could ever have," she says. "You're maneuvering through hundreds of pounds of powder." (Todd is a four-time champion of the Tesoro Iron Dog, the world's longest snowmobile race.)

    More: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/08/29/how-mccain-chose-palin/

He met her once? A 72 year old man, history of cancer, placing this person in direct line for the presidency based on a single conversation?

Obama and Biden are standing U.S. Senators. They know each other, and have worked together. The more that comes out, the more this is becoming patently obvious, at least to me, that this was a rush to judgment for nibbles off of Hillary Clinton's erstwhile gravy train of voters.

Astoundingly poor judgment, in my opinion.

The polls have her at a favorable "do-able" rate of 70%.

Don't think they were concerned with her politics though.

With nothing else to go on for now, this feels about the right pulse, to me:

    http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/08/29/palin-and-the-womens-vote/

She seems bright, personable, charismatic, and will no doubt speak to many women, particularly conservative women; but in terms of getting Hillary Clinton's voters, I'd say, way off the mark.

Really? You don't think being mayor of a small town with a police force of 21 people (it up to 24 now) qualifies her to be Commander and Chief of the most powerful military force in the world? But she was in an executive position. Surely that makes her qualified?

I'd have to agree. The VP slot this time around more than ever appears to be nothing more than an attempt to gain the presidency overall. At least Biden brings a bit to the table IMO.

I can not believe I am saying this as I do not believe I will vote for either, before the primaries even happened I was about the soul supporter of McCain on DP, now however with this announcement and Biden being on Obama's side if I had to choose I'd damn near go with Obama.

I do not plan on voting for either though ;)

I don't know. Do you think that being a Senator with absolutely zero management experience, no accomplishments or leadership experience qualifies someone to be President? Is that same person qualified to be Commander in Chief, even though he has zero military experience and has never been in charge of a police force of 21?

The choices are not the best this year, but they are what they are. :D

I wholeheartedly concur. As for McCain's choice, here he criticized Obama for lack of experience, but picks a lightweight for a running mate who's just a heartbeat away from the presidency.

I agree these are not the best choices. But yeah, I do think Obama is more qualified than Palin. I am not sure I can explain, but my gut tells me so.

I do think it is funny that at Obama's speech the other night there were supposedly 84,000 people there. That is more than 10% of the entire state of Alaska. As I said before, I just don't think she has the gravitas to be President, and I think someone who is McCain's VP needs to have that qualification.

In a race between Obama and McCain, I was leaning toward Obama but had serious reservations and would have been persuadable to vote for McCain. With this choice for his VP, I can guarantee I will not vote for McCain. How it affects other voters will be interesting.

Add to that Biden never has had a real job before becoming a legislator. Unless you count a two month stint in a law firm a real job.

Bogart ~ McCain adding someone that has experience and can make a difference in Washington, McCain is now leading Obama by a wide margin South.
Palin and Sue Myric dominated our local talk radio with their respective economic plans to straighten out the economy in May and June.

@Grim~ If this was a publicity stunt only and not McCain choosing the best person for the job McCain would have chosen the woman from Minnesota.

I am amazed that the all knowing DP forum experts have not heard of Palin and realize she is the real deal.

She is more experienced than Barry Obama

Most of mainstream America approve of McCain's Choice. What a great choice indeed.

Have I heard of her? Yes, but barely as most nobodies with no real meaningful experience usually do go unnoticed.
You might as well stop the claiming of being awestruck by Obama, it's so blatantly obvious you use that for your cover up of your true feelings, you are voting for McCain, supporting him throughout and are afraid of Obama. It shines through on such a level, I can not believe you'd even go through the actions of stating anything else.

I was awestruck by Obama and awestruck each time he speaks. I am voting for McCain know with the Addition of Palin. Before she was added I was thinking of wasting my vote third party. Like I said before she is one of the top three people in politics. . I am amazed that McCain got something correct.

How is this nobody with no real experience one of the top three in politics?

Your posts before this prove otherwise, they have done nothing but bash Obama and praise McCain, pretty obvious to see right through it in all honesty.
