So I'm trying to start my own fitness website and before I start charging a subscription fee, im keeping it free to the public. I have good topics and content, pictures and everything. I just dont have the traffic I'm looking for and my crawl stats tell me my page rankings are pretty low. Can you guys check out my site and let me know what you think of my keyword choices? I think that may be my problem. The site is gymmonsters.com and to view my html with all the keywords, just click view---->source in your toolbar. thanks for any help you can give me guys, ~Stout
If you have great keywords, great content and a awesome looking site, unfortunately that's not enough to get ranked well in the SERPs to get good traffic and PR. You need to consistently work on building quality backlinks to your site, link exchanges, submit to article directories to build authority in google. This is especially true if your niche is highly competitive. Time and patience are the most critical for success online. Without these steps and measures, then I'm afraid you might get discouraged when the traffic doesn't roll in.
I have had that trouble too. You need to keep promoting your site as well as have excellent content. Try and get people to naturally link to your website, give them something worth showing their friends etc. Once the links start building naturally your page rank will increase.
alright, this might not be exactly what you want to hear but 95% of the time it's the truth you are going to have to keep doing what you are doing with the site. good content nice site all that. spend as much time in the beginning running around the internet and finding what people want to learn about your niche. Create that content and then spread it around. If it is good content and they like it your site will be a success. but it's going to take time to get the traffic where you want it to be by word of mouth. So you could advertise or just keep on keepin on. I'd say it could take a year. Unless you can get notoriety on a major site within your niche or on Digg. Also try to use stumble.. it can help a lot if people like it.
and don't worry about page rank.. worry about serps. for real traffic matters not PR numbers unless you are selling links on your home page.
Hey there, nice to meet you. You will need to define what is your target first, then you can act based on your target. A good site does not need good page rank, unless you are targeting on making money through paid reviews. Adsense money comes from targeted visitors. Define your target, and go from there to achieve it.
yes. i know many sites which are of 10 years old. but with 0 page rank. they are great site... get huge traffic.............. but i guess they also lack qualitly back links.............
Hi, Don't bother much about the Pagerank. It's useless unless if you are trying to sell links on your website. The important thing is quality content and targeted traffic...That is all you want.
SEO makes more people visit your site. More People = More Sales... and the buyer don't look at the PageRank.
Your site just 1.5 months old, trying to build more backlink to show up in the google or yahoo. There are lot of competition on your niche I think, and it is hard for competition.
jmmealer22, I have looked at your site and have a few suggestions. For getting more visitors: 1) Build lots of backlinks -Submit your site to Digg.com and mixx.com -Email other fitness sites and ask for link exchanges 2) To make visitors stay -Make your page more readable with more text and less bright colours. - I think the red is too bright. You should change it to white or similar.
Page Rank will not bring traffic, good SERPs is what you need. Try to build backlinks and add useful content in your site. This will increase PR and traffic.
