Can anyone help please. I've just upgraded to Windows Vista and now I can't run FrontPage 2003. It says there's a problem with the extensions. I'm tearing my hair out here so any help would be gratefully received.

I found the answer. For some reason all the files on my website had been saved as read only and it was causing all sorts of error messages. Perhaps this is the wonder of Vista. I'm beginning to understand why Mac users are so smug. :(

You should still download and use Microsoft Expressions. Frontpage is crap.

I've downloaded Microsoft Expressions. My husband installed it and now I don't know how to start it. I can't see anything that looks like an application when I go to the program files. I find that frontPage is an excellent HTML editor. You can use the design view, or just the code view or you can split the screen between the two.

OK. I got the program started and I opened up one of my sites and I thought it looked very similar to FrontPage. I use the split code view a lot and I don't tend to use any of the gimmicks that a lot of sites use now. I like a website to tell me what I want to know without a lot of fancy things happening all over it so a basic HTML editor like FrontPage is ideal. Also I write a lot of php pages and I can't see anything in Expressions that helps with that. Recently I was reduced to a dial up connection for a couple of weeks and some of the bigger websites nearly drove me mad as I struggled to open them. Commission Junction has something like 74 images on its home page and you have to wait for them all to download before you can even start using the site. Why? What function do they perform? Worst of all are the sites with big flash intros and a button saying, "Skip intro." I think I'll stick to FrontPage for now but thanks for the pointer to Expressions.

As is Expression. As is any WYSIWYG editor.

My advice - downgrade to Windows XP. You will always have problems with Vista, not only with Frontpage. XP is much more stable and reliable. Believe me it's not words - it's experience!:D:D:D

    Agreed.

I have had more problems with XP than with Vista. Every situation is different but Windows Vista can be a very stable operating system.

I believe you. But as a long-time Frontpage user, changing to Expressions isn't easy. Both are so different from the UI prospective.

FrontPage is the worst code generator ever. It's so bad, Microsoft even dropped it years ago. Everyone should, right now, burn whatever copies they have.
