$40 to $70 logo / button contest

I am looking for a logo and a button for one of my websites:

The logo should be relevant to the website: funny, probably cartoon style, maybe with a mascot.
The button should carry the text "I need and excuse!!!" and be consistent with the logo.

The logo should be delivered as a vector and/or high resolution picture (AI and/or PSD).
If there is a mascot, in addition of the logo, it should be delivered separately as a vector and/or high resolution picture (AI and/or PSD).
The button should be delivered as 2 images: normal and highlighted (PSD).

I would like to end this contest in 3 days but if I only get a handful of entries I may have to extend. I will offer critiques to help everyone better understand what I want along the way if there are questions.

I will pay the winner $40 via Paypal for a logo and a button. If there is a mascot that I could use aside (on a t-shirt for example), I will pay an additional $30 for it.

I do reserve the right to not pick any design if I don't find anything that I think is good enough. I also reserve the right to end the contest early if I find a perfect match unless someone posts that they are working on an entry (that would be unfair).

sounds like a good contest. I am going to work on something for this. What is the size of the button that you are wanting. Is this 88x 31 button or a different size ?

 

There's no size requirement for the button. It just needs to look good.

 

ok, I started a sketch last night for the mascot. I will try to submit today. Then work on other mascot ideas if needed.

I like the text and the concept of the dog caught doing something wrong.
The color of the text is interesting. The graphic for the dog is OK but doesn't strike me. Additionally the color scheme of the dog is too dark.

 

The position of the dog is better in that version but the rest of my comments still apply. The color scheme of the dog feels wrong as does the red background.

 

I'm not a big fan of the text the way it is. Doesn't feel pro if you know what I mean.
I like the graphic for the boy but that doesn't convey the concept of "I did something wrong" or the "I need an excuse" concept.
For the button, I was thinking more something of a classic button with the logo/mascot overlaid.

 

That's quite interesting. Will there be any copyright problem with the photos?

So, I guess you think it looks ok but not really what you are looking for ?
You want the text to have a more 2.0 look ?
I will have to think of a mascot doing something that makes him look like he needs an excuse.
as for the button , did you want something animated? Or Just the domain name , logo and slogan ?
I will work on something else.

 

ok trying something new for the logo idea. If you like it I can do more work on the drawing add some shading and clean it up a little.
