hmm.....I'm assuming you've only read the title of this thread, and thought it to be a "what would you do, if you knew that you were going to die today?" question. Unfortunately that wasnt what i meant.....please read the FIRST POST fully and im sure you'll understand my question better.....
You made me sad You deserve neg rep Dont worry i dint gave you any anyways i will share all my passes with my brother
hey, no offence buddy, but i really wasnt trying to make anyone sad....and neither is this a thread to be considered as FUNNY,.....its really something we webmasters especially have to think of. Death can happen to any of us anytime without warnings, and so its not at all wise to let our hardworks just rott away after our death! So, considering sharing your password with someone you trust is something we should give extreme importance to. If we consider material things like a "house" or "land" even if we dont write a will, i guess it automatically gets transferred to your relatives after our death. But that isnt the case for websites!
Before going on holiday last month my wife and I made a list of what should be done if anything happened to us.. this also included usernames and passwords. This went into a closed envelope, given to her mother.. Having files on your desktop/.. doesn't matter if no one else know they exist or knows you left some kind of instructions..
An interesting topic and one that's close to my heart. I once had a client who asked the same question of me. The weirdest thing was that the poor guy died while I was building his site. He wasn't that old, around mid 40's - sudden heart attack and he was gone. Of course I was sad that he'd passed on, but it was bad for me monetarily too. It was a big site, and although he'd paid 50% deposit, the site was just about to go live, 99% complete. I was never able to retrieve the remainder that was owning. I learnt a few lessons from that experience. 1. I keep all my passwords encrypted and regularly backed up. 2. I have nominated a friend who is web savvy to take of business if something should happen to me. 3. With large jobs, I make sure I get regular progress payments. Remember guys sh*t really does happen..!
hmm... makes me wonder. I've saved all my passwords with password safe. I guess I'll write the master password down in an envelope and give it to my dad to store it in his safety deposit vault. Funny thing is, no one will be able to login to the site even with the password
I haven't got any money to give that's locked away...mainly because I'm 15,but if I were too...then I'd want all the money to go to a youth/cancer charity.
hey, buddy....read the first post fully! my question is related to about whether you've done something to make sure that the websites you own, reaches the right hands after ur death.....not the amount of charity you would give away if u knew that you were soon to die,....that is not at all my question.
i have a partner who co runs all my sites with me so i guess he would just get rich off me i do have a few valuable domains though so thous would just get auctioned on go daddy!
