If you're forwarding correctly (htaccess? but on blogspot? not sure) from the old to the new site... from what I know... you should re-gain your PR in the next update.

Some SEO god please correct me if I'm wrong.

You would have lost all backlinks - a reason why you should develop the blog with it's own domain name in the first place... however if your content is good and rest things being the same..you should regain your rank ...

    good luck!!!

That why they advice never to use blogspot as a domain because Google does not let you do a 301 redirect that transfer all SEO value to a new site and you will lose all the inbound links pointing to it.

Yes never use blogspot as your domain . It is not yours in fact. Why not have a domain of your own.
    It is the law.

Blogspot seems to offer some manual redirection, but that really doesn't help your SEO. You won't be getting it back anytime soon, time to start link building again!

you really got to know where all the backlinks to your blog spot are from. Once you know you can tell the site owner that your blog is changing its address so the links can all be pointed to your new addy

do whatever redirect blogger will allow you to, then check yahoo siteexplorer to see the old domains backlinks.

Be organised, get a list together of the best sites that were linking to you, and see if you can contact them to update their links.

If you have submitted articles, login to your article directory account and update your resource box.

The new site, I assume it uses blogging software??? Wordpress maybe? - Whatever it is, try to get more traffic by having a decent ping list in the backend admin.

Then just keep adding decent content, and I am sure that you will regain your PR.

It sounds like you won't be able to transfer the old PR from the old site, so I wonder... would you be better leaving that site up, but adding a post saying that this blog is not closed, and linking to hte new site, to pass a bit of PR that way? - also add a sitewide blogroll link linking to the new blog, and if blogger lets you edit template files (I have never had a blog i don't host, so i don't know) - then edit the template file to have an explanation that the site has changed to the top & bottom of every post... and a link to the new site.

One problem with the above would be that if you have exported the old posts, and imported them into the new blog, then you may have duplicate content issues.

Just my thoughts... - Oh, also there are a few trusted members here on DP that offer guaranteed pagerank increases - check the services thread in BST.

After all the above, remember that pr is not THAT important... yes it can be satisfying, and also a sign of success, especially to prospective advertisers! - But try to focus on rankings and traffic also maybe? - pinging rss feeds can be great for traffic! - There is no panacea really, but a wide spread of efforts is good.

The great thing though, is that whatever you do gain now will be yours... and if you ever want to transfer to another domain, you can do a 301! - So don't get down about loosing your PR in the short term, get excited that now YOU and nobody else will be benefiting from your work, and unless you get caught out doing black hat stuff, then you won't loose the work you do from this point on!

Hope some of what I said may help!

    Cheers,

    Mike

You'll have to regain backlinks to the new domain to get PR back.
I would keep the blogger address live and link it to the new URL to redirect users as well as pass a little of the PR.

As an additional tip, build backlinks to your new site as Google might be updating in a month or two from now so you better do it slowly each day to assure your site that it will regain its PR. Cheeers :)
