Newbie-Google adwords not working, confusion?

We set up a google adwords account.. standard edition.. $50 monthly budget.

We added a keyword that we thought was specific to our company (they only wanted one set of keywords for now, not the best idea i guess)...

Keywords example : "Super fresh" (not the actual ones)..

So if anyone searches on "Super fresh" then the hope by management was, that we'd appear in the sponsored companies section..

Its been well over a week and the adwords control panel shows 0 hits all around..

If you search for those keywords in google, there aren't even any sponsored companies showing up on the right..

Are we doing something wrong (aside from not having enough keywords).. what has to occur for those keywords to bring up our ad overall?

    Thanks

    getting no impressions?

id say your quality score is not so good. also $50 a month is not a great deal so G wouldnt be showing your ad much at all unless you tell it to show them as quickly as possible.

I had the same problem and I called Google at 877 2 GOOGLE and they told me that they were having problems and sure enough the ad started running 2 hours later. You might try calling Google.

My bet is that your bid is too low.

It could also be that you're paying $50 a month... that's the issue...
If you pay $50 a month - that's $1.6 a day. How many times do you think your keyword could be clicked on before it stopes showing.

Your budget is just to low,you have probably added 10-20 keywords for a daily budget of $1.66.If you get a $0.10 a click that is just 16 clicks for 10-20 keywords, they for sure will not run your ads because they even don't have time to stop your ads.
Try to target only one keyword and then maybe google will show your ads.

I guess perhaps i dont understand how this system is supposed to work..

IE:.. someone searches on the keywords we have in adwords.. when does our ad then appear in the right hand side? How does this bidding on keywords work.. does this mean each time someone searches for the exact keywords, we get charged an amount (a bid?) out of our $50 and after so many bids, our ad finally shows up?

As of now, we are showing statistics at last.. under "Google partner sites that show your ad " it says "14"..

Searching on the keywords doesnt show our ad though.

We are using the standard package for now.. we had a $50 credit and wanted to see if Adwords would increase exposure to our website, or ideally, create clicks/new customers.. but this may be hard to determine, short of asking any new sales if they found us via google adwords etc.
