Hi, I am looking to submit my ecommerce store to some paid directories that have been suggested to me on this forum. However, how can I tell for myself if a directory is worth listing my ecommerce site in the clothing/mens category? What traits or indicators denote a good directory? Thanks Jimbob
I wrote this a little while back - The Distinctive Traits of a Quality Web Directory for occassions like this.
The primary thing you want to look for is if the topic you will be submitted to is cached by the search engines and its frequency. If it’s cached but not within the past couple of months or so then don’t waste your time. If it's not cached move on to another directory. Are the submissions of quality and edited? There are two things that make a directory good: traffic and SEO. Some directories you do for traffic. Others you do for SEO.
and is adnsese is disabled or enabled. If enabled this is means that the owner is making money from Adsense on the web internet online directory and the traffic is needed to improve the amount of incoming one-way-money.
I look for niche directories that are going to pass on traffic to my website. If the directory isn't going to send me traffic I'm not willing to pay for a listing.
